It's harsh, no doubt. But he messed up.

The overhead shows him clearly elbowing Cav
Renshaw got booted for a headbutt side by side that didn't cause a crash years back and I think this was more dangerous.
Bookies just made a she's lad of cash on the green jersey though

Yeah there was a door open when Cavendish tried to squeeze through, but Sagan closed it with an elbow. Rubbin' is racin', but that crossed the line.

I thought the elbow looked like dirty pool, but the two former riders in the NBCS booth were very defensive of Sagan and dismissive of any contention that he did wrong.
Stuff happens at lightning speed in those packs, and there is often rubbing of shoulders, but that elbow looked a little much to me. Looks like the stewards also thought so.

I will link the EPO study released this week I think regarding Lance and the absolute lack of benefits.
Absolutely fake news. Lance has his lawsuit coming up later this year so you will see more of this garbage. It absolutely gives endurance athletes an advantage.

ive watched it over and over and it looks like cav is leaning into sagan and sagan is pushing him off. besides that, cav is clearly going down before sagan's elbow comes out in any ostentatious way.
no surprise that sagan's DQ benefits the fdj sprinter the most. fricking uci.

I agree with you on this from my own understanding of the EPO usage. I think Lance broke the rules, but dared anyone to catch him. I don't think he was the lone wolf of doping in cycling either though.

He wasn't. There is a pretty good documentary out now about Lance and the TDF. I believe it is on Netflix and Amazon. I've always liked Lance but he did some rotten things to many teammates over the years.
I believe his lawsuit from his time at US Postal is in November. This might break him.

Watching itseveral times more, I don't think the elbow was the major issue. When Cavendish makes his move, they are sevral feet away from the barrier and there is planty enough space for a move. Sagan knows he's coming and just alters his line and starts driving him towards the barrier. The elbow isn't what put him down, but it might emphasize intent. I think Sagan was at fault, but a DQ is probably a tad severe.

Looking forward to today's stage but I'm travelling so might miss the finale
Actually on my way to my dads house who is in the French Alps right between the croix de fer and col du Madeleine but somehow I've never times it right to watch the tour
I think Porte will put time in to people today

British Postal just took the fun out of this stage
Quintana cracked Aru attacks to win stage. Sherwood hates Contador won't even mention him.
New Yellow, White and Polka Dot wearers tomorrow

Go back and watch Lances attacks in 99'. Just unreal, absolutely no way you are doing that without PEDs benefit.
Not to mention he took literally everything under the sun.

Enjoyed this stage, though the drama was compact. It was one of those stages where you can watch only the last 5-10 minutes and you didn't really miss anything. Love a good summit finish. Nice little attack by Aru. A bit shocked by Quintana cracking like that this early on.
ETA: Looking forward to stage 9 on Sunday - 3 HC climbs. Looks brutal.
