Why word it this way? You can manipulate any player's stats to make them look better or worse, so why not just say 11 carries for 77 yards?

Because it makes a difference. 5 ypc is different when you consistently get it as opposed to one 90 yd carry and a bunch of 0yd carries. It does make a difference, and it also speaks as to why Smith abandoned the run.

The Shepardites on the Rant love doing this. Nobody was better for 2 yd runs with the occasional 90 yd TD run than Russel Shepard.

With the exception of the one big run, Jackson didn't get much else.

Same for Adrian Peterson...does he suck now too?

No of course not. I also didn't say Jackson wasn't an upgrade.

The Saints had Jackson defended well.

He was one carry for 78 yards. Then after 3 carries he was at 77 yards. I dropped him from my fantasy team at that point.

Yeah because there's TONS of guys out there that consistently get 5ypc in the NFL. Guys like Peterson, Charles, Spiller, Johnson, etc. routinely have gains of two yards with long rushes sprinkled in, but that doesn't make them less effective. Hell the majority of AD's yards came off his first touch of the game against Detroit.

This isn't really comparable because we are talking NFL and college, and probably 90% of Shep's touches came off the same play.

Steven Jackson is an absolute monster. He will have multiple 100 yard rushing games this season. Def a great move by ATL picking him up.

I'm dumb and steven jackson is just piling up the Ls for the Falcons. It is going to be very funny when the Rams drop you to 0-2 and I can witness you go into full panic mode

I think it is more like the Falcons o line made yall look like one of the best d's in the league.
Its all on the offensive line. The Falcons had the cap space to sign a vet at RT or RG any time during training camp, but never did. It cost the Falcons the game. The way that line broke down in the 2nd half was cringe worthy. We had to settle for screen passes all of the 3rd quarter.

We have already been crowned best d in theleague by a major American company. It was simply a year premature.

In all seriousness we will be middle of the pack just like we were when not running spagnulo 's ridiculously stupid system.

Based on one week, he's not replacing Turner. He's replacing Turner, Snelling and Rogers.

I have my doubts. He's not too far from being Shaun Alexander.

Jason Snelling would have caught that pass at the end zone.

Before we overreact let's remember that we were AT new orleans against a team and head coach that we are 2-13? against and were 3 yards away from winning. The sky isn't falling.

As for sjax, I think the falcons are still trying to figure out how they are going to use him exactly. The game plan was pretty simple with Turner simply bc he was so bad.

Jackson historically owns the Saints. Him playing them twice a year probably was a good decision.

Exactly. It was a close game like always. Thats why everyone predicting with an overabundance of confidence either way was just ridiculous. The division will be close like any rational fan said over the summer.
