I think he sees the type of people that dedicate their entire existence to baseball and bust their butts to get a tryout and Tebow gets one based primarily on his name value. I could see how that would irk him.
Ultimately, is the responsibility of a club to sell tickets whether it's in MLB or in a farm league. Marketability is just as much woven into a player at this point as talent. I see what he's saying in principal, but only if you look at MLB as a sport and not a sport AND business.
It's unfortunate but it is what it is. And to be honest, if they see enough of something in Tebow to pick him up then so be it. That's the organizations burden to bear when the newness wears off.

I don't disagree with any of that. I think we all know Tebow's primary appeal is his marketability and I think most organizations would consider taking him on for that purpose. Just saying I could see why this urks some baseball people because Tebow isn't someone that's taking the game as seriously as others.

On the flipside of that there's definitely guys who have talent (not just in MLB, but in other professional sports) who strictly get by on that talent without much work. And that don't necessarily take their profession seriously. How many times have we talked about an athlete who, if they put in the effort, could be one of the best at their sport?
It takes you back to the old "I wish I could put your heart in his body" deal. Unfortunately, that's life.

Baseball people are weird
I hope Tim makes it. I expect he won't, of course, and I think it's silly he's doing all this if it's apparent to people who do this professionally that he doesn't have what it takes.
If he's somehow shown some promise to those who would know about such things, more power to him.

I'm pulling for him. The league needs a pro-Christian gay

How do you know he is not taking it seriously as others?

If he were serious about getting ready for pro baseball and had been preparing for 4 years why was he playing football 4 years ago?

Buster Onley put out an article today that basically said if Tebow was really serious about playing professional baseball, he'd be playing professional baseball not having a closed tryout for MLB teams at the end of the minor league season.
Essentially, there are enough indy ball and minor league teams that would sign him in a heart beat. If he were truly serious about it, he would have been getting live ABs since the spring, not just working out.

I'm just calling a spade a spade, and a publicity stunt a publicity stunt.
