A real MSB baller would have all 30 teams come to watch. Just sayin'.

So if you had an opportunity to hold a closed tryout for 20 teams, you wouldn't take it? Who are we to tell him not to chase his dreams.

Whos to say he wont... He probably didnt feel ready as He has been working out for a year to showcase what hes got for MLB teams and at that point he will decide his next move..

If he can catch and throw a ball, you sign him to a minor league deal. The amount of money he would bring in on ticket sales would exceed his incentive and performance/option contract you're giving him.

He's not athletic enough to play professional sports. Its painfully obvious at this point. It's OK Tim we're all not meant to be pro athletes

If there's one thing I can't fault Tebow for, it's the fact that he always gave 100 percent on the field. I doubt he'll be half-assing it in baseball.

he wouldn't be clogging up a roster spot that could be filled by a legitimate baseball player.

LOL this is the dumbest thing I'll read on this site today.

Don't know that I agree with that. He's just not good enough to be QB. Had he been open to suggestion on the best fit for him in the NFL he might still be in the NFL.

Only position he could have possibly played is fullback, and those aren't utilized anymore. No way he could play TE like many suggest

What are you talking about? Tebow is taking up a roster spot that could be filled by a baseball player who's been toiling away for years to get to the level they are at. Buck Showalter even brought it up when local reporters were asking him about Tebow.

quote:

Former NFL quarterback Tim Tebow’s interest in playing baseball was a popular topic today.

“I better leave that one alone,” Showalter said, smiling. “Am I intrigued? No, not at all. Amused? No, not at all.

“I think about what these guys do in our Dominican Academy and Delmarva and Aberdeen and the Gulf Coast League and Frederick and Bowie and Norfolk, I take very seriously the stuff they have to do to get the opportunities and do what they’re doing. Somebody will sell some tickets in the spring. I should be careful, we may sign him.

“I bet he was a good player in high school. I was, too.”

An mlb manager sounds jealous about a player getting a tryout?

How about a current one?

Centerfielder Adam Jones took a shot at the former Denver Broncos quarterback on Twitter. After this @MLB season I’m going try out for the @NFL this offseason. I haven’t played since HS but I’ve played in a few TurkeyBowls since!!

I think he sees the type of people that dedicate their entire existence to baseball and bust their butts to get a tryout and Tebow gets one based primarily on his name value. I could see how that would irk him.

Less than 3 actually send a scout and not a PR intern.

I think that's what will ultimately come from this. I actually agree with him doing the tryout this way though. He's got the name recognition to get scouts or whoever there. He'll know immediately afterwards what level he's best suited for. And almost every front office has connections to some level of indy ball. People will talk about him and he'll get an offer in one of the lower level leagues.

ETA: I don't think he's got a snowball's chance in hell of getting on with an affiliated minor league team.

Because this is a pure attention grab and publicity stunt.

Why hold off on a tryout to the very end of August when minor league baseball is basically done by then. MiLB wraps up it's post-season by mid-September in most leagues.

Supposedly he's been training to do this for 4 years, the proper way would have been to field offers from teams, sign a free agent deal and go to spring training back in Feb. w/ the real players.

This is a gimmick, he's already selling autographed bats and balls. It's not a stand up move and that's where people are calling bullshite.

I think he's athletic enough to play in the NFL but not smart enough to play the QB position.

I think he's more than athletic enough to play baseball. If he's good enough to play at the MLB level, I have no idea. It would be quite the 30 for 30 one day if he ends up being a good baseball player.
