If this doesn't make you laugh, you're not a sports fan.

ESPN will still devote 20% of their golf coverage to Tiger, even if he isn't actually participating.

There was a thread making fun of him yesterday when he shot a 77. What other golfer would gets a thread for that?

There was a thread making fun of him for missing the cut last week. Nobody gave a shite that the world number 1 Jason Day missed the cut, or world number 3 Dustin Johnson missed the cut.

The haters complain about Tiger coverage, but they lap it up just as much, or possibly more, than even the Tiger fans

The jealousy/hate people have of Tiger. It is like he took their girlfriend or wife and turned her into a crack whore.

The entire Phoenix Open/Waste Management Thread has 20 posts.

This thread has more than that in a couple hours. Whether people like him or not, it's so ignorant to say he doesn't at least move the needle.

"Why the frick is Tiger getting so much coverage!!!!!!!1 !!"

(as I post in Tiger threads, notice when he misses every cut, and only watch the tv when he is on)

Tigers collapse and possible but improbable comeback is still the most compelling story in sports. Now it's sadness is compelling. The fact that if he won a John Deere it would be a big deal, is sad.

I know I am sad. I really wanted him to give Jack a run.

Really sorry for your loss.

And no, it is not even close to the most compelling story in sports. At this point most people don't give a shite.

Where to begin with the fallacy of this post.

1. People do care and you do also or you would not post

2. Grammar Nazi, figure it out (yes I am the pot)

3. So winning one of the oldest tournaments is a sad thing?

I could go on.

Yeah, but alot of that has to do with his banging whores and people cheering that shite on. He brings in non golf fans only as evidenced by some in this thread that freely admit they only watch if he plays. Duh, it moves the needle.

1. Some people do care but most don't and saying it is the "most compelling story in sports" is silly.

2. edited for you. Sorry. :(

3. The guy said he was sad... I am not even sure what your point is.

He's great for the sport. The casual sports fan who doesn't care about golf will follow it while he's playing.

Good. Of course, the media will still do nothing but talk about Elrod.

Why hasn't golf been able to produce another guy who can move the needle like that? If they're relying on a has-been who never even plays anymore to bring in the casual sports fan, then there is an issue.

I'll get through. Some days are better than others.

"at this point" is key. You are right in that it is losing it's luster. But name something else. in sport, that is more compelling? Or was more compelling 5-6 years ago? If you say "deflatgate" I "e-spit" at you!!

Because there has not been a guy who wins as much as he did. Also he was winning the USGA Amateur multiple times, so he was a "name" before he became a professional. The race thing also drew in a segment of the population.

I actually like Tiger. He receives entirely too much attention, but I understand it. The funny part is that every time he shoots a really bad score, his back starts to hurt and you get a WD.
