Seems like the list would be misleading then since some players are on longer contracts than others right now. Would be cool to see a list that included only through this season. Joe Johnson sure would fall

Ilgauskas, Brian Grant, Dampier, Theo Ratliff, Brad Miller. Lots of big men. Larry Hughes got paid a lot of money to be pretty bad.

All stick out to me.

ETA: Jermaine O'Neal does not because I remember a time he was incredibly dominate. He had so much potential.

No he was NOT.............

he certainly was.
That extension where he started making 13 mill a year hit in 2003/04 season. He finished 3rd in MVP Win Shares that year.

His base stats were 20/10/2.5 blocks.

at that time I'd say the top 10 players in no order were

Shaq
Duncan
Kobe
KG
T-Mac
Jason Kidd
Iverson (even though I hated his game)
Dirk
C-Webb
Jermaine

So yeah there were a lot of bigs ahead or at the same level, but he was right there in the discussion. He was the best player on that early 00s Pacers team.

Yeah, Jermaine O'Neal isn't remembered very fondly but he had 6 or 7 legitimate all-star seasons unlike those other guys.

Maybe now it looks that way but you have to remember he averaged over 20 ppg and 5 rpg three straight seasons before he signed that contract in ORL

I was think Johnson being at #6 more than anything. His max contract has to be one of the worst investments ever.

and yet Billy King and The Russian traded for it. God bless you, Danny Ferry.

Seriously though, the Nets have the most overpaid roster I think I've ever seen in any sport.

And by overpaid I mean they have not even the slightest hope of winning a championship with the group they have put together. They couldn't even beat the Walking Dead in the 1st round with home-court advantage.

Even though he played when salaries weren't as high, the fact that 86 players have made more money in the NBA than Michael Jordan is crazy
