I'm saying if all it takes to bring in casual fans is to score a billion points, then the AFL and CFL would be competitive

I understand what you are saying & that wasn't the point I was trying to make. It's not just about putting up points but the effects of those points. Score a lot of points & put up huge yardage in the CFL & AFL & nobody gives a shite. In the NFL though, it's a bigger deal. That's all I'm saying.

I love the NFL, but it's dying a slow death and turning into a marketing and hype machine with games that take half the day and have just a few minutes of worthwhile action... and half of that action is flagged. /rant

Good

Eta: all the butthurt in this thread is from people who don't want the nfl to enforce the rules put in place. You're not allowed to hold wrs while they are running routes. If you don't like it, fine but that's the rule and it should be called accordingly. But yeah continue with the Lolz saints butthurt!!!!

There couldn't be a more false statement...

Don't like the emphasis, but we will see more scoring... As a football fan i'd like more balance, but 42-40 games are more exciting than 10-7 for the average fan.

I understand people complaining about how unfair it is for defenses, but what the Seahawks got away with last year was unbelievably against the rules. They more than any team are fricked.

It almost felt as if they dared the league to call them on it. Maybe that was just their personality.

The Seahawks definitely pushed the boundaries of physical secondary play last year. They figured out where the fine line was

Do it every play and it's unlikely they call it every play.

I heard Goofdell is considering a 5-Mississippi rule to serve the dual purpose of protecting quarterbacks and helping offenses.

I probably shouldn't have posted that. Don't want to give him any ideas.

This is yet another move which should increase passing and offensive success throughout the league

so it will be fun to watch my team's offense but just more nerve racking to watch the defense.

and when the WR catches the ball and the defender tries to make a hit to knock the ball loose, even leading with his shoulder, there is a good chance that will be a penalty too?

frick YOU BIATCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Why is Goodell trying to ruin the premier professional sport in the world? Is he a secret Arena League junkie? Why is he trying to turn every game into Arena-Ball?

(Roger, no one watches that shite)

More like the Seattle Defense Rule. Every team should have adapted it.

I think you are confused. Goodell has nothing to do with futbol.
