We actually got called, incorrectly, for a hit in the secondary that extended a Seattle drive and gave them points.

The Lance Moore offensive PI in that game was pathetic with what the Seahawks were getting away with

The only pass interference called in the game was against Lance Moore

Nobody wants this

that's not true

pretty much every sport evolves to become more defensive and less risk averse

those that do not adapt, lose market share. just look at boxing's fall...or baseball's (and then look at the not shocking resurgence during the steroid era with all the HRs).

the NBA fell into a dark era in the late 90s/early 00s and made changes that have DRASTICALLY changed its course of popularity. the rules were specifically put in place to eliminate defensive advantages and simplify the defensive-zone rules

many years ago soccer changed their offside rules to open up the game. hockey (i'm no expert on this), from what i've been told, had a similar issue and opened up the game with new rules similar to offsides ( i think it was the blue line passing and zone trap or whatever)

It almost felt as if they dared the league to call them on it.

this is their exact strategy. the vast majority of NFL refs do NOT want to interject themselves as a legit variable in games. the seahawks philosophy is "you're not going to call us every time, and once you 'establish the rhythm of the game' you're going to let us get away with it entirely"

this happens a lot in soccer with teams who foul a lot and shin kick. for anybody who watched the world cup, the colombia-brazil game was a magnificent portrait of this (and brazil imposing that physicality led to neymar's injury, ironically)

and it is a great strategy

“They look at it and say, ‘We may get called for one but not 10,’” FOX’s Mike Pereira, a former V.P. of officiating, told Clark and Clegg.

So those New York Times and NBC articles were only written by Saints fans?

I think Seattle was brilliant for making this their strategy. They took advantage of the human nature of officiating. We should have been doing the same thing.

What is the new rule? Is your point that you're retarded?

Why is Goodell trying to ruin the premier professional sport in the world? Is he a secret Arena League junkie? Why is he trying to turn every game into Arena-Ball?

lol when Tom Benson bought the VooDoo and they sold out every week... he then created the greatest Arena team of all time. They just happened to play next door.

There's a difference between adapting because you are losing popularity and taking the most popular sport in the country and CONSTANTLY changing to less and less defense for no reason.

You're other examples try to stop at a point where it's an enjoyable offensive game but the defense has a chance to stop them. That's the balance you need. Playing basically against air is not what anyone wants.
