new coach at UT, said all recruits would be kept on. so they enroll, so they turned down other offers to go there, and 2 weeks in they are told they are being dropped, are banned from all athletic facilities, and cant leave till the spring is over or have to sit out another year
pretty shitty

How many recruits does track get every year? Seems like dropping 6 of them at once would be a pretty big blow.

Outside doing blow, fricking the entire football team, and beating their coach there really isn't much of an other side of the story that would make the coach come off as sensible.

On the positive side, a few schools are going to get some motivated-as-hell track athletes.

Through UT spokesman Jimmy Stanton, Alford-Sullivan and Hart declined multiple interview requests for this story. Stanton said UT placed no transfer restrictions on the women and will honor the athletes’ scholarships through the end of the 2015 spring semester.

They sit out this year and transfer. Not a big deal IMO

Why not just leave them on the team letting them know they are done at the end of the year.

Did she go find 6 other people to fill the spots?

Easy for you to say. It's a very big deal for athletes to miss a year of competition and have to transfer.

Was that the same reaction you had when Kiffin dumped your program for greener pastures after one year?

This happens in every sport except football. In baseball, for example, scholarships are year to year. Don't perform as a Freshman, then you may have your scholarship pulled and asked to walk on as a Sophomore or even cut. Go look at an SEC school's Fall ball roster. Most will have 36-40 players listed. Only 35 make the Spring team, so they just wasted a full year and never even got to actually be on the team. Sucks.

While athletes regularly choose to depart a program upon a change in leadership, it's almost unheard of for them to be dismissed by a coach before even being given the opportunity to compete. Family members of the dismissed runners insist the women had no disciplinary or academic issues.

What a count.

It's not that easy. Since they are enrolled at UT they will have to sit out a year after the transfer. This POS coach is essentially destroying 2 years these freshman have to compete.
