Eventually the MSB will learn that PP7 is not the best corner in the league.

some will never believe it. they'll find a way to convince themselves otherwise. some will say he's the best regardless of whatever stats or game tape you put in front of them.

Is this supposed to be a negative or positive for PP? This board had me convinced he was a below average corner. Top 5 for a man corner seems legit here right?

Seattles safety play is so good that it allows Sherman to play more 1 on 1 than u think. He gets a lot of his picks in trail techniques. He'a overrated but not as much as you guys lead on.

He doesn't have the top end speed, but e makes up for that with his physicality, length and size

Nobody will ever be as impressive as Deion, dude played straight man coverage his entire career and gave up less than 2 TDs/yr. Hid worst season as a pro, his second year in Atlanta, saw him give up a whole 5 TDs. He had three years where he gave up 0 TDs.

I agree with this. However, I'd like to know what the league passing stats were over those years. Also, I'd be curious about how officiating today would effect Neon's numbers.

I remember the 49ers putting up 50plus on Atlanta with Deion and Brian Jordan, both Pro Bowlers, in their defensive backfield.

I didn't realize Peterson was considered a top 5 corner until this thread. I figured he was above average with sick return skills.

I like some of their analysis. I mean I read it but definitely don't consider it to be the holy grail of information in judging an NFL player.

I have no idea if you are right, but that was a hell of a convincing argument.

That's the boat I'm in. I also feel like they expanded their personnel waaaaaay too fast and it showed last season.

Do they have any system that puts weight on their stats? I know the eyeball test doesn't always work, and stats are obviously huge in many areas. But too often I read their stuff and just think..."nah, that's right?"

I like their QB stats. They normalize the completion percentages to take into account WR drops and pressure throw aways. They also time how long it takes the QB to throw the ball, and that is one of the most underrated stats in all of football. Their reception yards per route run is also interesting, as it measures the efficiency of receivers.

When you get to the meat of what they do, grading, it's very subjective. Anyone can see a 4-3 base cover 2 defense and kind of understand what players are supposed to do. If a safety bites on an incompetent QB's first move and intercepts the ball, yes he made a great play, but it wasn't the right play because he would have been torched on the pump fake.

I've always wondered how they handle CBs that are put in no win situations. The Patriots do this quite a bit if teams are in zone. They will overload the zone with receivers and force the CB to take an option away only to let the other receiver float free. Does the corner get penalized for playing the deeper route and allowing a 4 yard completion instead of the first down 8 yard completion?

I like the QB stuff too, and have often wondered why ESPN and the main players in the media don't do some of that stuff, like account for drops and broken play throw aways and stuff.

Some of the other stuff seems a bit "eyewash" to me though. Still like them though.

I liken it to movie critics, honestly. I find the guys that I like their work, and I make sure to check out the games they evaluate.
