This bothers people?

87% of bench clearing incidents in a 5 year span were between 2 players of a different race.

What's the percentage breakdown of the race of the instigating players?

What are some of the unwritten rules?

One unwritten rule is that if you hit a home run, and are audacious enough to express joy with yourself over it, that means the opposing pitcher gets to hit you with a deadly object.

What the shite does the NFL and NBA having a dress code have to do with baseball players throwing at each other?

The predominantly black leagues have league standards and rule changes that make them more corporate and less barbaric. A mostly white league like hockey allows fighting and baseball lets you throw at one another.

Stephen A kinda has a point, although I'm not sure racism is the right way to phrase it.

Baseball's culture of "unwritten rules" is one of the most ridiculous things in sports.

Every sport has unwritten rules and codes.. it's just a lot easier to spot the enforcement in baseball..

Don't think race or baseball's history had anything to do with this policing.

Explain how the MLB "lets" players throw at each other(and I assume beat each other up) while the predominantly black leagues don't allow this.

Hard to predict...seeing as it looks like they lump every Spanish speaking country into one happy arse group of dudes who love each other.

No clue.

Also depends on how you define "instigator." You may say it's the dude doing the bat flip or pimping a HR trot, but for those who see nothing wrong with that, the instigator is the guy who cries foul over the bat flip and pimped out HR trot.

I'd put it this way to slightly change the wording of your question, if I were a betting man, I'd bet that the party feeling the most slighted is the white player, comparably.

Is throwing at a player an automatic ejection? Pretty sure it isn't.

Again, I don't think racism is the right phrase, but it's an interesting note. The NBA and NFL have moved decidedly more "corporate" over the past 15 years. They're also predominantly black leagues. Is there a connection? I'm not sure.

As for the deadly object comment. How many times are people hit by pitches each year on purpose compared to on accident/being a bit too aggressive on the inside of the plate? If the deadly object shite was THAT big of a deal, the game would exist. How many players have been killed by being intentionally hit by a pitch?

What about when the Latin player pimps the HR, the white pitcher doesn't see it, and the catcher with the last name Suzuki stops the Latin guy at the plate to yell at him?

Who gets that one?

The word "racist" means absolute nothing to me anymore because it's being thrown around so much and it's so watered down.

Well, to be fair the OP was the one that used the word racism, not SAS.

NBA fights weren't exactly a huge deal until they decided to be idiots and go into the stands.

Football players are constantly antagonizing eachother, and as long as you don't throw a punch it's usually not an ejection. shite, what's the baseball equivilant of Odell Beckham Jr. and Josh Norman allowed to be complete assholes to each other for 60 minutes without anyone being ejected?
