Why would anyone be upset that he held his kid at 2nd? Did they lose the game?

Youth sports parents just look for a reason to bitch.

Right...as if there's some innate value to being able to sum-up his accomplishments in a single two-word phrase.

Why would the parents start bitching about that? So dumb.

Like taking a knee with 4 minutes left in a football game. People will bitch either way.

The cycle. Was expecting to read something totally classless here but that was not the case.

Dumb. You teach kids how to properly play the game at that age and stopping at second when you had a triple in order to get an individual achievement when you could have been at third and better able to help your team is wrong and what youth sports should not be about.

No reason to overreact but a totally selfish thing to do and teaches kids what not to do.

Was he a RH hitter? His dad should have run out there and screamed at him for 5 minutes about not being man enough to pull it.

Was the kid wearing eyeblack and sliding gloves? I bet the dad was.

I hit for the cycle in city league twice when I was 12 and once when I was 13.

No one gave a shite then and no one will give a shite now.

ETA: Chances are 1-2 of his "hits" were actually errors by one of the outfielders anyways.

Never make the first or third out at third. Good baseball rather than chance third out. Opportunity to teach baseball. Lead off guy ... Stop at second.

Would've been funny if they lost 9-8.

All the coach has to say is, "Never make the 1st or 3rd out at 2nd base."

If they play that team again, that kid may get the cycle of HBPs.
