So.....the youth league coach wanted his kid to have the "cycle"

youth league coach's 12 year old kid was 3-3 with a hr, single, and a triple. during the kid's last at bat, with the game 8-4 in their favor, he hit one down the line to right and could have stood up at third. his dad (coach at third) held him up at 2nd for the stand up double and the cycle.
the parents were bitching.

Would rather have a hr, single, and two triples than a hr, single, double and triple. Total bases use to mean something.

How many outs? What inning? He's in scoring position at 2nd, I'm guessing last inning, and they're up 4.

And if he took third and kept going and scored, parents would bitch he was running it up. Years ago when I coached, if we were up big we'd play station to station and no stealing. No sense rubbing it in.

I understand. but, 8-4 in 12 years old baseball is not really up "big". that's for sure.
