On a side note, BYU is one of the "best value" colleges in America. It's a pretty good school academically, but is under 10k, and even less if you're Mormon.

He just wanted to familiarize himself with missionary. Nothing wrong with that, it's the Mormon way.

How does this change anything? Decide if you want to live by their code of ethics or risk being expelled. It really is that simple. I am no fan of Mormons, but if you choose to attend a Mormon school you better be ready to live by their rules.

Don't bother with JBeam. He already made up his mind that all Mormons are racist. Apparently they recruit and signed and let black athletes play only to kick them out because they are black. Makes perfect sense if you don't think about it.

I never ever stated that i thought that Mormons were "racist" and show me were i said they recruit black players only to chick them out?

ETA:Kick

check your facts before you going trolling like a douche.

With all that beginning said it's pretty ridiculous that this young man couldn't have sex with his girlfriend without someone (probably a teammate) ratting on him.

HeadChange, JBeam, same difference. Either way you both have shitty points.

Can you show me where I said you said those words?

Also, how do you chick someone out?

He knew the rules before he got there. It's all on him. I don't agree with their honor code, but I agree with them punishing him. He broke the rules so he suffered the consequences.

While I agree that if you know the rules and break the rules you have to pay the consequences however BYU has been playing at a high level in sports for a long time now and I have not heard of any athletes being suspended for honor code violations until now and I will have a very hard time being convinced that there hasn't been other code violations that the administration knew about and didn't turn a blind eye...

their best RB Harvey Unga left school last april under similar circumstances. the girl in question was a BYU basketball player who left school as well. the girlfriend (now his wife) must have been pregnant at the time, since they left school in April, the were married in July, and the son was born about a week later (according to wikipedia).

so do you think it's ok to kick a kid off scholarship for drinking tea or using profanity?

If the terms of the scholarship were such that he wasn't supposed to drink tea or use profanity, then yes.

I understand that these terms are in the rule of the scholarship. But, there has to be a "grey zone" (for regular people like us. aka non-mormons) who have to look at some of these rules and say there full of shite.

If they were going to have a gray area then why would they even have the thing in the first place? The fact remains that there was a contract signed between two parties that were fully aware of the terms and consequences. The contract was breached, end of story.

Whatever you feel "should be the case" doesn't matter.

When it's explained beforehand that it is against their rules? Yes. I would have never gone there in the first place, but it's not like they keep this honor code a secret.

He can't seem to understand that. He just wants to hate on others.
