Or saying that Sean Payton should be fired because he let a serial rapist play on his team.

Terrible analogies.

I think the perception is that he recruits pretty well because initially he brought in several SEC gray shirt caliber players that he had established relationships with in Mississippi. Those have dropped off. But the fact is that, even at 109th this year, he recruits better than his predisessors did and UL Laf will have wide swings in recruitig from year to year. We're little brother, after all, much as we hate to admit it.

I say we because I am an alumni, though my heart is a tiger (first year at LSU, marriage dictated otherwise), and my money will be as well when my son starts there in the fall.

How so? All three coaches are the most successful coaches in their respective team's history.

Point is that a head coach cannot prevent players from getting into trouble off the field. It's not realistic.

He banned personal music from being played over the loudspeaker in the locker room and made entire team do community service for the incident.
He kicked the Artez off the team after the rape incident.
He suspended all 13 players indefinitely after this latest theft incident.

What else would you like the HC to do?

For starters, NFL coaches don't get to pick and choose who they want on their team.

Random locker room video released, no big deal. Player you took a chance on allegedly raped someone? Terrible, but not really something that you can point at and say it's a widespread issue.

THIRTEEN (dozen + 1) kids you recruited allegedly decided to break into an apartment? Starters? Kids you're expecting to develop into leaders? This seems like a much more systemic problem in the type of players in our locker room. Has everything to do with the HC.

Let's say you own a business. You find out that one of your managers has THIRTEEN direct reports (he hired) that robbed one of their coworkers. Not your manager's responsibility? Just fire all the workers and it's business as usual? Don't think there could possibly be any underlying issues there that would cause thirteen human beings, all with free will, to agree to rob a co-worker under your manager's nose? Yea, let's just chalk that up as people getting into trouble outside of work.

To some, the way Hud handled it was a much bigger deal than the video itself

I think 90% of the people that had a "problem" this is indeed the reason why.

Didn't realize this was ULL, I was wondering why KATC was reporting about Louisville football players

You're still not answering my question.
What do you want the HC to do?

And don't answer with some lame hot take that he should not have recruited those Thugs.

How do you not see how ridiculous that sounds?

If those players committed a crime and the HC tried to cover it up in some way (see Penn State and Baylor). Then that is worthy of a coach/staff being fired.

Why is it a lame hot take to question Hud bringing in kids with questionable character? He has since his first recruiting class. If he wants to bring in guys with issues, you can't have 13 of them show up at once on one arrest report.

Hud's strategy is to roll the dice on risky guys who are great athletes, and that's fine if you have a track record of steering them the right way. Hud doesn't. I will commend Hud on not trying to cover up anything, but the onus is on him to develop and establish a certain culture in the locker room. That starts with who you decide to fill the locker room with.

For the record, Bill Belichick is the GM and does indeed hand select who is on his team.

There is a high likelihood that none of those players arrested had a criminal background.

Again, this was an offseason/off-field incident that is out of the coaching staff's hands. There is literally nothing that the coaching staff could have done to prevent this.

This is because of the SAT/ACT scam ran in Mississippi. It dropped off because he got caught. As a Tech fan, I am sure glad ULL decided to pay him $$$$$ because he is an absolute tool.

Like some in this thread, I doubt that ALL 13 are 100% involved.

I think you have your schools and timing mixed up. The testing scam was at Ole Miss starting after Hud was at UL. Hud was at Mississippi State through 2010. Pretty sure the testing stuff at Ole Miss was 2012 or later.

The few interactions I've had with him and one time I've seen him speak lead me to the opposite conclusion.

As a slightly more than marginal Cajuns fan, I am glad as well. When his contract was extended, he had been winning consistently and paying him a good salary marked a shift in ULL athletics approach to these matter. The previous university president did not believe in operating like a division one program to the point of prohibiting an independent athletic foundation.

Partially untrue.

It was started at Ole Miss by David Saunders and continued when he came to Lafayette in 2011 with Hud. He was the recruiting coordinator for HUD.

David Saunders had been at Ole Miss for 2 stints over 12 years and was known for his recruiting skills and ability to get players eligible.

If there is any doubt that this happened at Ole Miss as well consider that the ACT scheme was done at Jerrell Powe's high school and Saunders was his recruiter. Powe's "tutor" was the testing admin there.

HUD definitely isn't the brightest tool, especially after inviting Tech recruits to the Tech/Lafayette game in '14. That's was spectacular. But hey, at least he invented a new shirt size....SMedium

ULL PD released the list of items stolen. It includes an LG tv, boxers, socks, hair lotion, nail clippers, Jordan's, $3. That's a random arse list.

Full list here
