Well the 1996 Bulls had Dennis Rodman and the 1996 Magic only had Horace Grant for 1 game. That also has nothing to do with whether or not the Bulls could have beaten the 1995 or 1994 Rockets.

Jordan wasn't significantly better in 1996 against the Magic than he was in 1995 either.

Lastly, along the lines of the OP, should the 1999 Spurs' title have an asterisk? Jordan retired during the lockout, then Pippen asked to be traded, and Phil Jackson retired after the championship. If they stay together do they annihilate the Spurs?

See how dumb this is?

Jordan was done by 99, so we are talking about prime years Jordan and him retiring for baseball

Who knows, but he was pretty salty in the playoffs up to that point and the Magic went 1-3 against the Bulls in the regular season, winning by 6 at home, losing by 9 and 20 on the road, and losing by 4 at home.

They should just shut down the NBA. Nobody will ever be as good.

That's seriously the only way to satisfy the nostalgia fans

That Rocket playoff run was unbelievable.

I believe they were a 6th seed, and were facing elimination in the 1st round against Stockton & Malone and to win the final two.

Then were down 3 games to 1 against the Suns and had to win two on the road. Up next was the Spurs who finished 15 games ahead of them in the division.

MJ was better in the '95 series against ORL than he was in the '96 playoffs altogether.

Yes in 1994 and no in 1995. Horace Grant was far more critical to the Bulls success than people give him credit for. The Bulls missed him badly in 1995.

Jordan was wearing #45 and 2 months back, that ain't Jordan

He also averaged 32 ppg those playoffs. He wasn't really a shell of himself in the playoffs, that's a myth.

Then there's the fact that Jordan himself even said this before:
quote:

A journalist covering the Bulls claimed he was talking to Jordan in '92 in the locker room after the Bulls lost yet again to Hakeem's Rockets, and he says Jordan told him "you know it's a good thing these guys can't get out of the west." and the reporter asked "why?" and Jordan's response was (regarding Hakeem) - "we have no answer for that guy."

So even if Jordan was played in the NBA for the first championship, it's no guarantee that the Bulls would have won.

He averaged 18/11 on 65% from the floor in the series the year before. He averaged 15/13 and 18/10 in the two series before they played the Bulls the next year. He was a huge part of those teams, that's a ridiculous statement

Well he was the 1998 NBA MVP, so let's not act like he would have been a scrub in 1999.

Jordan wasn't himself, it was obvious watching the game. he didn't make the players around him better. had he been with the Bulls the full season they win another championship

Was 7-26 at The Summit in January 96 when you claim he was "back to being Jordan". He wanted no part of Clutch City in the postseason. Avoiding them was the best thing to ever happen to his legacy
