It wouldn't bother me if the NCAA did give them the death penalty and let the players transfer without stipulations. But between the lawsuits, the state, federal, NCAA and dept of education surely the end result will be devastating enough.

Not sure how to answer that, but the school has been disgraced in a major way. By the way anyone thinking and arguing on behalf of Joe Paterno doing it right back when this all started, please ban yourself right now. JoePa was Penn St and to suggest otherwise was ridiculous.

I hate how Penn State football is going to be viewed as "healing" this fall for PSU fans, as if they are the victims here...

Punish the individuals, not the current players and coaches. All involved are victims too. Penn State is a great school and great for college football. They will do as well as they can to compensate the victims, give time and money to the right charities, etc.

I do think the victims should sue the university into third world poverty for trying to cover this up

Since you can't get any rational answers from people up North, how does the South feel? With all the new evidence surfacing about the emails from administration stating they were aware of the situation, should the NCAA even be involved, or does The NCAA need to make a statement?

The NCAA doesn't administer criminal matters, dumbass.

Probably not since it happened so long ago. but the cover up should get folks in jail and the civil penalties will be steep. Maybe the accreditation folks might want to chime in and put them on probation for the cover up and the arrogance.

Those are my feelings as well. The school is going to suffer greatly from the civil suits. I doubt the juries will have any mercy.

This is not an NCAA matter with specific regards to athletics.

Penn State is about to be bled like an upside down deer on the civil side of the house, though.

Hell no. While it was a FB coach doing all the disgusting acts this really has little to do with the team or athletics.

Besides, all the lawsuits they are about to get hit by is going to wreck them.

After the tens of millions dollars they are going to have to shell out, the NCAA is the least of their problems. The football team is already suffering from all the bad press and this upcoming season is going to be debacle at best.
I do feel that the NCAA should set a precedent in this case though. They need to send the message that if your administration can't control what is going on behind the scenes of your football program, then maybe you should think about not playing football for a while.

NCAA should not get involved with anything about a University unless there is a "competitive advantage" in athletics with the violation. Otherwise this is a State of Pennsylvania issue. Should the NCAA have kicked bama out of the association for the G. Wallace's "stand in the schoolhouse door" incident ?

It is a great school, on the cutting edge...a heavy influence in global research...have you been there? And, the State of PA will have to fund the settlements ultimately...the tax base. Culpability is much more complex vs the university and the State than folks think, although several million may be paid out...the school and the State molested no one. What damages to these kids occurred after the school knew, or should have been able to stop it, can be mediated or adjudicated, but the molester can't pay anything. What do you think...20% on the school before they knew and 50% afterward?

Smh, how stupid. George Wallace standing in the door way had nothing to do with Alabama football, that was just acts of racism. In this case however, football is at the source. The acts, the cover ups, all lead back to the football administration.

No. This is away from the team.

Doesn't matter. The coaches and administration were involved. Schools are punished all the time for things done by the coaches and administration. It wouldn't at all be inconsistent with prior NCAA actions.

Yes, they should receive the death penalty for one year. Their school and fans need a reality check.
