Winston has been the presumed No. 1 pick for several weeks now. Late last week we surveyed the mock drafts of 13 of the top draft experts and every one had the Bucs drafting Winston.
But according to multiple reports, that is not the case.
The first comes from Ron Jaworski of ESPN, who was a guest on Comcast Sportsnet's "Philly Sports Talk" (via PhillyMag.com).
"The latest I'm hearing now from my sources around the league, who are pretty wired in, is that [Mariota is] going to go number one now to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers."
Joe Bussell, who worked in the Bucs front office during the 2011 season, used the Twitter account @NFLosophy to anonymously give a behind-the-scenes look at the the team's strategy's before outing himself in 2013.
According to Bussell, the Bucs will draft Mariota but trading the pick may be their first choice.

The Bucs plan on drafting Marcus Mariota if they can't find a suitable option to trade down.
These come after a report by Charles Robinson of Yahoo! Sports that said at least one important member of the Glazers, the family who owns the Bucs, has "raised some internal questions about the community relations impact" of drafting Winston.
While the Bucs have not been shy about signing players with checkered off-field histories, none of those players were asked to be the face of the franchise and the Bucs did not have to invest as much in those players as they would with Winston.

I agree with passing on Winston. But I don't agree with taking Mariota.

Trying to get Jameis to sign a lower deal? I thought all that was prestructured.

This is all just a ploy to get Chip Kelly to go all in and give up tons of picks. Bucs aren't even entertaining Marcus Mariota as the #1 pick

Get somebody to trade up, but please don't take Winston.

The only way I believe this is if something big comes out against Winston. Chances are they are just putting their toes in the water and seeing if they get a godfather offer.

This rumor was started by Ron jaworski
I'm not buying it

Winstons lawyer coming out and saying he's not ready for the NFL off the field def raised some eyebrows.
But I still think Tampa takes Winston #1.

Maybe I'm wrong, but it sure has seemed like there has been a constant effort to push Mariota up the draft board. There have been constant rumors. I just don't buy it.
I think there is a better chance of Mariota being there at 15 than there is of him being taken #1.

I agree here. he is no better than johnny fottball.....But I think Winston is way overated as of now... He may learn in a few years, but there is no way e brings the Bucs instant success........

at least it was just his sources saying it.
I thought it was going to be Jaws saying that after he studied Mariota's film extensively that he's convinced that the Bucs should pick him instead of Winston.

I really want to get to draft day with no guarantee of who is going #1 overall.
