Why don't they sanction the fricking Marlins instead of shutting the whole thing down?

Because it's going to continue to happen.

Tin foil hat on, you make a good point. They're postponing games where a team has 1 or 2 positive staff tests. Not players, staff.

Replacing 14 players ala the Marlins is one thing, but 1 or 2. If you don't replace those guys then what's the point of the shuttle squad.

I’d like to know how many of the positive tests have been asymptotic.

Should have split the leagues between Florida and Arizona and only played there.

Or you could not be ignorant lemmings and just do what you do when players catch a flu.

I'd be ok with shutting down the Marlins for the season because of their dumbassery.

Arizona doesn't have the stadiums and Florida is a hot spot, that is why they were not chosen. Along with like I said more individuals to account for vs the NBA

Should have done the bubble

This is the only way to keep these childish, spoiled, entitled, filthy rich and irresponsible mother frickers in line. Nobody picked up covid in a batting cage or out in the field. The NBA got it right, and they’re STILL having issues with compliance. It’s just the nature of pro athletes. Wait until football starts (we’ve already seen the college kids getting in trouble). I just don’t see any of it working out. Too many knuckle heads are gonna frick it up for everybody.

Again, I'm not sure you all understand the bubble situation for MLB

They should have made the Marlins bring in their players that are not part of the 40 man roster. I thought that was the point of the taxi squads.

Have you not been paying attention? It's not the way pro athletes behave, it's the way people behave. Regular everyday people are acting like just wearing a mask is sending them to Auschwitz.

there's literally only been one legitimate problem with compliance and its being handled correctly

It's as if they didn't plan for the possibility of any players catching the virus.

nothing more than the flu

I have a friend who had it in April. She's 26. No previous health problems. Wasn't hospitalized. Still has major breathing problems. Has not been able to return to work. On her most recent follow up appointment her doctor told her it would likely be October before she's cleared to return to work at the rate her recovery is going.

The CDC says flu deaths average from 12,000 in a great year to about 56,000 in a bad year. In 2017-18 flu season 80,000 died, the most in 40 years. That is with a vaccine and people going about normal life.

We've had mass shut downs, social distancing, and mask requirements in large parts of the country. 156,000 deaths and rising.

It's. Worse. Than. The. Flu.
