re: Rick Pitino to sue UofL for breach of contract

He's done coaching, so he doesn't have to worry about turning off future employers with a lawsuit. Louisville gave the scumbag the contract. I don't want Pitino to walk away with millions of dollars, but it would be nice to see a university pay for enabling someone like him.

Earlier Monday, Pitino attorney Steve Pence served the university with a breach of contract notice that alleges U of L failed to properly notify Pitino and to give him a chance to respond when it placed him on leave last week.
even if they're right, it seems like UL is going to go about the proper procedure to terminate him with cause, so this point is moot
a. the damages for this breach, assuming he is terminated with cause, will be VERY minor
b. this suit will open Pitino up to discovery. the FBI and NCAA are drooling at the thought of that exact scenario

Lmao. I hope he gets roasted in court. Worse than the cum down his leg in 15 seconds.

Petino was sleazy, Art and Joe Pa were straight up evil.

Exactly. Banging someone who isn't your wife in a restauarant bathroom and paying for their abortion is sleazy. Overlooking rape is the action of a monster

And he'll lose. Frivolous lawsuit

Yeah, well this is how it is with these guys. Spit on the school after they support you via multiple scandals.
I know it's about getting some settlement dollars, but I really hope UL sticks to it's guns, takes it all the way, because they will win.
He's been nothing but an embarrassment to the University, and should have retired after the now vacated 2013 title.

When is the shoe gonna drop on Kentucy?
Cal has a pretty dirty track record.
The N.C.A.A. found years ago that Calipari’s star player, Marcus Camby, had accepted large sums of cash and services, not the least the ministrations of a prostitute, from a couple of scalawag agents. The N.C.A.A. fined the university $151,000 and forced the Minutemen to vacate postseason victories and the Final Four appearance.
Calipari, a voluble Chevy salesman of a recruiter, later moved to Memphis, which ended up vacating a lode of victories because of violations of N.C.A.A. rules, all of which Calipari said shocked him. Then he decamped to Kentucky.
An Amateur Athletic Union coach in Connecticut who had sent many players to Massachusetts described Calipari’s recruiting philosophy this way: “If you qualify, we want you. If you don’t, we still want you.”
(A Boston Herald reporter once asked Coach how he failed to notice that his players were wearing diamond studs. “I don’t walk around carrying these jeweler’s glasses,” Coach replied.)
Coach Calipari has proved admirably consistent. At Memphis, he reeled in Derrick Rose, a wondrously talented point guard. Rose, it turned out, passed his SAT because someone else took the test for him.
You just know Kentucky is fricked down the road. A tiger can't change his spots.

Louisville will settle. They probably have just as big a reason for not wanting all discovery turned over to the NCAA for purposes of investigation. It will probably be a fraction of the contractual obligation.

What did he do again?
I don’t keep up.... obviously

Pitino's attorney issued the school with a breach of contract notice.
Pitino's attorney's a douche who's probably paid hourly to say everything against his client breaches a contract or is illegal since UL is clearly honoring their 10 day notice clause regarding termination of just cause considering all that's been revealed about the basketball program. Those lawyers really grind my gears and cast a major stain on the profession.

I have an inclination that Rick's probably sick enough to sue to completely destroy Louisville's basketball program beyond what's been revealed through what he'll reveal through discovery and possibly what settlement he may gain in the process. The logical person in me simply believes he's suing so he doesn't leave empty-handed since his buyout was $44 million, which is probably the more accurate presumption and assessment. You never know with these types haha.

That might be his legal angle. Moral turpitude clauses are generally open ended. He might be pointing out that if they didn't fire him for those offenses then firing him for a lesser offense is a breach of contract.
Plus UL has more to lose in the discovery process than Pitino. Pitino is disgraced and will likely never coach again. And even a settlement is better than $0.
UL wants to stay in a P5 conference. Getting nuked by the NCAA will ruin their future.

I honestly think it has to do with the procedure of his termination and that Louisville didn't honor those clauses in his contract and he wants his termination converted to no cause or their commenced process against him nullified in some sense to trigger a settlement bc, like you said, Louisville has so much to lose from discovery.

But wouldn't it also open up UL to discovery, which could give the Infractions Committee a lot of ammo?
