If we are all being honest with ourselves, Pop should basically win it every year.
It's like the NFL. Belichick has only won Coach of the Year (AP) 3 times yet he is obviously the best almost every year.

If we're really being honest, we wouldn't include coaches who have superior talent.
I'm going to argue against myself, but look at Kerr and Walton. Hell, look at Phil Jackson. Elite talent - undoubtedly the most talented roster in the league most of the time - will hide almost every coaching flaw. People tout Kerr because he improved upon Mark Jackson's results/roster, but he also had an older, more mature and developed roster as well.
Think about someone like Doc Rivers. He's usually regarded as a top NBA coach, but why? He got fired in Orlando and was turning in progressively worse seasons in Boston until KG and Ray Allen fell in his lap, and voila, championship.

Because Kerr really did change that teams dynamic.
It's not like they just did what they always did and just so happened to succeed under Kerr. Kerr rebuilt that offense and turned it from mediocre and into a juggernaut that so far, teams that are giving them trouble(I.e. Okc) are doing so by emulating a lot of his strategies.
Walton took over a well oiled machine but that machine was built by Kerr(and Gentry).

Agree 100% with this.
It's the exact same thing as the Lebron or MJ not getting the MVP every year argument.
Although Curry fully deserved the award this year. I just find it funny that his award was the first unanimous.

Yea pop was the best coach this year. one playoff series win in the last two seasons and it was vs the worst playoff team ever. Pop, like his Spurs core, is past his prime.

Why would anyone take what you say seriously anymore? You've gone full tard.

Okc had off the court turmoil, an owner killed himself, an assistants wife died in a car accident, and mo cheeks had hip surgery and was out for half the season. Billy donovan did a great job despite those events

No one on this board has the Spurs organization pegged better than me.
And joerger For COY is as full tard as is gets bro.

but this vote was such a farce.
absolutely.
dude missed half the season and his replacement had a better record than him.
spare me the talk about it being kerr's plays, rotations, etc. he wasn't on the bench.

He didn't coach but only 39 games. It's a farce.

The award would be a farce if Kerr didn't win one of the last two years. He took over a good team and put up two all time seasons.

I thought Stotts, Stevens and Carlisle were all more deserving than Kerr, but I'm not sure that anyone REALLY gives a shite about this award

I agree with the post. Kerr only coached half a season and his back up actually did better. Guy(s)from Toronto or Portland deserved it more.
