I'm confused by your responses in this thread. What is your take on the situation at hand?

Temple should honor this magnificent achievement by rushing two linemen during the first Penn State possession:

Am I the only one that doesn't GAF?

Do I think there was something shady happening there? Yes. Do I think JoePa was touching little boys? No.

People who think that PSU should distance itself from Joe Pa b/c of what he let happen are cowards?

You really have no problem w/your school allowing that shite to go down?

Thanks, slackster. I'll try: Paterno's wife, Sue, won't be around very much longer. The university maybe wanted to give her some sort of public acknowledgement of her late husband. This is to commemorate the 50th anniversary of his first game and bring out some of the players (also getting up there in age). I don't know that this is great for PR, but people are going to hate Penn State regardless.

Those are some big insults coming from you. Your whole PSU community are a bunch of cowards, not wanting to face the reality of the situation. And what exactly makes someone who calls PSU out on this bullshite while online a "coward"?

I'll tell you who isn't a coward, a man who lets someone rape young boys in his football facilities. That dude is a stand-up guy

I don't think the school or the fans should necessarily bow to the opinions of ESPN blowhards or people on message boards when it comes to Paterno.

I'm not making a direct comparison to Nazi Germany, but the German people are just now acknowledging that Hitler was a part of their history. The whole world hated Germany for decades, anyway, so what did avoiding the topic accomplish?

Huh? Has this ever been in doubt?

The issue is the fact that he employed a pedophile that used his position and clout within the program to continue his rapey ways for years without consequence.

quote:

In his grand jury testimony, Paterno said that he was only told about Sandusky "fondling or doing something of a sexual nature" to the victim

That wasn't enough for Paterno to care any more about the subject at hand. He did nothing more than he was legally mandated to do, and for that, he is a sick SOB.

That's honestly one of the dumbest comparisons I've ever read on here

In general, sure, but in this case they're right.

You want to honor teams from his time, go right ahead, but honoring the actual man is asinine. You don't have to ignore his time there, but much like your Hitler example, honoring him is a bad look because it is despicable.

You're right. They should do what is right. You know what's not right? Continuing to immortalize an immoral man who allowed despicable things to happen under his watch. People don't like you guys because of this sort of stuff. You continue to deflect and delude yourself into this just being a Paterno witchhunt.

So the school is honoring someone tomorrow that you compare to Hitler?

People are going to hate Penn State as long as they keep doing shite like this. The 50th anniversary of JoePa's first game is nothing more than a random day in September at this point. It would be one thing if JoePa had absolutely no clue about the actions, but that wasn't the case.

I went to the Notre Dame-Texas game. Talking with tailgaters and fans in my row, dozens found out I am a Penn Stater. Not one person had anything negative to say, though I'm not a physically intimidating person. Did I luck into meeting the nicest fans in the world, or they are just a better class of people? The only people that ever give me shite, personally, are Buckeye fans at work, and I still love those jackasses.

Now see this is different. Can you verify if any of those people were even aware of this Temple game honoring? If that did come up, did you mention that you don't have a problem with it? Now if all this happened, and they still were super nice to you, then yes I would say you got lucky. You really think everyone here is a coward? If I had the chance to speak to you in person and you held pro paterno beliefs in that conversation, I would call you a delusional moron to your face.

Can you honestly say you think fanatics will stop hating Penn State, regardless of what they do? Between trolls, finger-pointers, and holy rollers, the hatred for Penn State will always be there. Sometimes I reply to the frick Penn State crowd, sometimes I let it go. There is no discernible difference in thread quality either way, except that may stupid arse opinion is or is not there.
