Let me splain the main difference between the 2. Sherman is very, very instinctive and jumps a lot of routes. He gambles because he has Earl Thomas and another stud safety behind him. He loses sometimes, if you watch the Texans game from last year, but his gambling makes big plays.

The guy who broke down every snap of their last 2 seasons seems to think differently about Sherman being some riverboat gambler. But I'm sure you've broken down the All-22 of each of their seasons, right?

PP7 locks onto a receiver ala Revis 5 years ago. When he gets burned, it's usually because he slips on the WR's feet because he's all over them.

Comparing anything PP7 does to Revis other than following around a team's #1 for the majority of the game is laughable. PP7 has never had a season in the same realm as Revis.

And lol at PP7 only getting burned when his feet get tangled up because he's covering them "too closely".

Pot and kettle, etc. Your fan base vs our base? You have no room to criticize. Too bad we can't all behave the way Julio, PP7 and A J Green did, and continue to do. They are extraordinarily gifted athletes who have always treated each other with sincere respect. PP7 has always treated Sherman respectfully as well; he just believes he's the best and Sherman gets all bent about it. Doesn't seem to bother Revis Island, who is supremely self confident (as he should be).

No way shape or form could he do what Sherman does.
Wha?

ETA: You can make an argument for either Peterson or Sherman, and you can find articles and NFL pros and scouts to back you up, but to say that either one is heads and shoulders above the other is ridiculous.

I have never seen a fan base quite like LSU's. You guys have to be the most insecure collection of people I have seen. Quick to bash players in the league from Bama if they are not all NFL and will go to stops to prove that an LSU grad is the best beyond comparison. Why can't you all just enjoy the game? Sweet jesus

Who's bashing? I see a healthy debate. Quit being obsessed.

Having a much more dominating DL helps out a cornerback a ton also.

You guys quit being obsessed with people liking Sherman better. Its like a one a month thing with you guys trying hard to prove that PP7 is the best in the league. When people show statistical proof you get your panties more in a wad and cry like babies.

Argument 1: PP > RS

Response: PFF fact, etc..etc..

Argument 2: PP follows the best receiver everywhere he goes, Sherman doesn't.

Argument 3: PP doesn't have a superior safety tandem behind him

But the root of the whole debate is from LSU fans needing to prove the PP7 is the best in everyone's mind. Its as if the fact that most consider Sherman the best in the league hurts LSU fans on an individual bases emotionally somehow. You think I give 2 shites that Saints fans hate Ingram?

You distort reality to fit your perception of the truth.

I never understand why the average NFL fan pretends to have sufficient knowledge to break down positions like DB and oline to the degree of being able to name the top 3 at the position.

Average fans just follow the ball on tv and don't pay attention to anything else. Even if you try to watch a position group like corners you can't really get an accurate measure because the Tv broadcast rarely shows what you need.

The limited advanced stats that exist for positions like DB can help you break the players into tiers at best. Arguing 1st or 4th is just a circle jerk.

The "root of the whole debate" is that the OP posted a video of an NFL WR1 gump saying Peterson is better because he takes the WR1 every play and is not protected in their scheme like Sherman.

I can counter that with the fact there is absolutely no fan base like Alabama's.

Grown man sexually assaulting someone passed out in public.

Poisoning oak trees because you hate a school.

Killing opposing teams fans.

Killing your own family member and fan because you feel they aren't mad enough about a loss.

It goes on and on.

One might say its people from Alabama but its not that. Auburn fans don't act like this. No its something about people who are fans of University of Alabama football.

I do believe Peterson is a superior overall athlete. As far as corner goes it's a tough call. They both play in different systems that each suit their abilities perfectly. With that said, I think Haden is damn good.
