Still one of the best teams in the league. They just need to play better. I love all the butthurt saints haters in here. The saints should be Americas team and loved by all because of the way they rose from the ashes to win a Super Bowl for one of the most loyal fanbases in sports and then get fricked over by the league. For anybody to hate the saints or their fans, they must have raked your team over the coals one time too many.

NEWSFLASH, other fans think you got what you deserved, maybe even less.

NEWSFLASH, people who think this are people who saw reports about bountygate on sportscenter and sat there like a vegetable with drool sliding down their chin, buying the narrative hook line and sinker without even looking at any of the facts, or just ignoring the facts because they didn't fit what they wanted to believe. Kind of like Obama supporters.

HA, how many fans were going to games in the years prior to Brees and Payton arrival? Every team in every sport can pack the house when they're winning, it doesn't make the fanbase loyal. Loyal fans would be the ones who go to games when the team is crap.

They lost by 2 and 3 in OT on the road. Homefield advantage is 3-3.5 in the NFL. I don't understand the overreactions by everyone

so you're saying...we're as good as the browns?

Still have 8 games in the dome

Go 8-0, 7-1 at home and split the remaining road games.

There is parity in the NFC south. Those teams will beat each other up all season. It's been two weeks, it's still wide open.

Eta; the browns are stacked on D and have an above average OL. Sure the saints played shitty but that team deserves credit

For the first decade or so that I really started watching the NFL the Saints were not very good and would only occasionally hit a 0.500 season. As expected, there weren't as many saints fans around prior to the 06-09 period when Brees showed up. I'm sure the saints fans that were aroudn before that were/are very loyal but there's no reason to act like they're any more loyal than other fanbase.

Anyway - they still have a really good team that is far from being done. Let us not forget the "dome field advantage" that is overwhelming in N.O. They're in for more of a challenge for the NFC south than they thought they were going to be. Panthers put the smack down on a pretty high powered offense today. They really started clicking offensively today in the second half against a decent Lions defense too.

You're really going to try and argue the loyalty of the saints fanbase? All those years of the saints sucking, people still showed up to the games en masse and watched every minute of every game on tv even though they knew the saints would lose. The saints were ingrained in the culture of south louisiana long before brees and Payton got there.

we suck on the road and are even worse outside. It is a good thing we play in a dome.

That being said, we right the ship and finish 11-5 NFC South Champs and lose in the divisional round because we CAN NOT frickING PLAY ON THE DAMN ROAD

I'm not sure about "America's team", but I've always found the Saints to be very likeable.

Yeah..... No

Most Saints fans are stupid fricking entitled assholes, who act like they have been fricking great since they joined the league, which of course, couldn't be further from the truth.

Payton play called them out of today's game. Should've fed Ingram and the other RB's considering they were gashing them. They just get too pass happy at times.

Wasn't surprised with a loss against the Falcons considering how close those games are usually.

I am shocked at the D's struggles this year.

Agree with all of this. Payton claims to want to run more but never does. We're finally looking like we can be successful with it and he goes empty backfield. Doesn't make sense and I really don't understand the D. I think the loss of Greer to injury/age is affecting this team more than we thought...along with little to no pressure on the QB.

Or maybe... just maybe you're on a messageboard with a bunch of Saints fans so your opinion of the fanbase is skewed?

Nah?

Are you telling me that the posters here and on the Saints board aren't an accurate representation of how most Saints fans are?

And before they were winning. So you see a few more saints shirts after they start winning and assume all these people just became saints fans. If a team starts winning after being bad for a while, you're going to see a few more t-shirts and bumper stickers. This is true for every fanbase of every sport at any level.

I'm telling you that only the most passionate, fanatical fans are ones who post on message boards. You can go read boards for each team and come away thinking they have the worst fans in the league.

I don't know how that's so difficult to understand.

rose from what ashes? ... they're an NFL team, not some rural/ghetto club with hand-me-down helmets ... they've been around much longer than katrina, if those are the ashes you're referring to ...

as for the op, what the others said ... should be at least 7-1 at home with a few wins on the road ... wild card at best, but their defense cannot hold up and if brees is off even a little, payton still refuses to use the running game ...
