They'd drop the SC, Stanford, Mich St and the home and home scheduled team that's usually top 15 game.

So it would be easier. They'd only play truly one huge game (FSU or Clemson) yearly instead of 5-7.

no kidding i think these people want ND to schedule Furdham or SW Prep State just so they play a 13th game.

People complain about ND just to complain. I contend that when ND is going well the entirety of CFB is better. The Subway Alumni is a powerful force and the casual fan starts watching more, generating more money.

they dont have to play a 13th game against a quality and potentially high ranked team. Thus the conferences with a title game have the potential of their highest ranked team going down. If that would be the case in Atlanta this year then there would be a chance the SEC would not be in the title game. Whereas ND and lets say BU could be sitting at home resting up and saving kids from potentially getting injured. If you dont see an advantage for ND then I am sorry I can't spell it out any better. And yes they have a good schedule but no tougher then LSU or Bama without that 13th game.

Like bama in 2011?

Wait, bama played a weaker schedule too

It is a 4 team playoff vs a 2 team playoff

So logically, it should actually be less restrictive, not more

the playoff committee has said that winning your conference goes a long way with them. So going forward I have a hard time seeing a repeat of 2011. Now if they go to a 6 team format then I could see it happening

no matter what you want or you like, notre dame has a built in advantage in college football. and it probably always will. they have the largest following in the country and the legacy of history in the sport.

anytime a decision on bowl or playoff is close, notre dame wins.

unless it screws LSU, i'm fine with this.

So in one post you argue not having a conference title game favors ND and now you've gone full circle to say the committee favors teams in conferences over those not in them?

That's enough Bama logic for the day

i think I was responding to several things. It helps ND from the standpoint that they dont have to play a 13th game but no one is going to leave out a ND team if they are in the top 4 of all major polls. Which I think devalues the process since they did not have to play a title game against a high ranked opponent.

its simple math really.

being the best out of only 12 teams, is a hell of a lot easier than being the best out the remaining others.

Doesn't really make any sense

ND doesn't schedule cupcake games like Middle Tennessee, for example.

So playing that 13th game is essentially meaningless.

I'd say a CCG helps teams as much as it hurts them. tOSU was only able to win the playoffs last year because of our CCG. Without it we don't even make the playoffs and Bama would probably have been crowned yet again.

So stop bitching and worry about winning, not what could happen.

And if you can't see that it is also a disadvantage because other teams get another chance to beat a ranked team then I am sorry I can't spell it out any better.

Whether it is an advantage or disadvantage depends completely on what else happens in the CFB world.

Having the extra game has been an advantage in almost every case. Look at Ohio St last year.

When will you people learn that the polls don't mean a damn thing.

The only thing that matters is what the committee thinks.
