It's probably the most awesome sport to watch live. And I'm not even a hockey fan.

People keep saying this. I've seen hockey live several times, and it seems like the same game I don't like watching on television.

s some have alluded to, there are too many hard allegiances in New Orleans and surrounding areas to other teams. Cubs, Astros, and Braves. Would be very difficult to pull enough from each to form a fanbase IMO.

All of those people are just bandwagon fans and will join the nola bandwagon once we announce the team

Something to consider: concurrent league schedules.

NFL: September to December
NBA: October to April

NHL: October to April
- The entire season conflicts with the Pelicans.
- The first two months would also be going up against the Saints and college football.
- Scheduling conflicts for the entire season (assuming the SKC/NOA would be used)

MLB: April to September
- The first month would be going up against the Pelicans.
- The last month would be going up against the Saints and college football.
- Need a stadium.

MLS: March to October
- The first two months would be going up against the Pelicans.
- The last two months would be going up against the Saints and college football (the NBA regular season typically starts the week after the MLS regular season ends, going by recent schedules, so no conflict there).
- Need a stadium, unless the reconfigured Superdome can accommodate a field.

Bulldoze Old Charity and the Old VA Hospital when the new VA is built, and drop an MLS stadium next to the Dome.

I'd be a day one season ticket holder at literally the most expensive tickets I could afford.

MLB culturally is the right answer.

NHL - hockey is basically soccer on ice, only not played by nancy boys.

MLS - fastest growing compared to what? The fact that all other major domestic sports have basically hit a ceiling here would of course make soccer the faster growing sport.

In conclusion all would likely be flops, no soccer pun intended.
