he was criticized in his day for shooting. people, esp the NY media when they'd flip out, would criticize him for not posting up

well that's just math
a 3 is a more valuable shot by a significant margin (50%)
hating teams relying on the 3 pointer is hating people who understand science and statistics

it's a mathematical decision

then why are post scorers less efficient?

Post play is basketball's rushing game: Repetitive, grinding the defense, imposing your will, etc.
Three pointers are the passing game: Spreading out the defense, and getting yards(points) in chunks.

I'm going to market this thread as a cure for insomnia.

You think Jordan from the Clippers is better than Ben Wallace???

by the 80s Kareem(along with 99% of the NBA) stopped playing D altogether
When McHale clotheslined Rambis...on his way to an easy layup...This was a mere personal foul in the '80s but surely would've gotten someone tossed in today's NBA. No one was suspended oor fined...and no flagrant...as Tommy Heinsen said on the broadcast, you don't allow layups in this league if you can stop it.
When the Chief sucker punched Lambier - and decked him to the floor while both were going for a rebound...it was whistled a mere personal foul...no tech, no ejection, no fines, play on.
Teams scored a lot but it's hard to defend when your running like LMU ike many teams.
This rewriting history that that era was soft by millennials who only watch YouTube clips is comical.

If you put a more athletic point guard on the second back-to-back Lakers team, do you think they could beat the Warriors in a seven game series?

All he seems to do is Dunk... But Wallace was there for ONE THING.. Playing great D and rebound.. Give me 5 guys that did it as well as him.... You think Rodman would NOT thrive in todays game????

If the NBA allowed this today, then the "thug league" moniker would return with a vengeance.

Maybe, but then again the group acting like today's players, who are bigger and stronger than ever before, wouldn't survive in an era with more physical play, is comical too. There literally is no evidence to support that claim
They're two extremes, but only one mindset draws the ire of crotchety old men

I think Detroit fans greatly overrate Ben's impact in the finals. Shaq still did well. It was Prince and Billups who really carried the team. Also, Rasheed was what finally got them out of the east.

So teams make a lower % in the half court. Do I really need a link to tell you shots in the post have a higher chance for shooting fouls and putbacks? It is common sense.

I m here to accept apologies on Big O & Kareem's behalf.
If Curry is getting frustrated & ineffective with the 'wittle' contact allowed against him coming off those screens I can only imagine ...........
Goes to show what some contact & length in your grill can do to a jump shooter.
Not much serious contact ,but I'm tired of NBA players today lollygagging around the court untouched.
He better hop they start calling those touch fouls again if the Warriors hope to pull this off.
