I think this is the emptiest I've ever seen a nascar race when weather hasn't been a factor

Yet there maybe still 50k there
The front stretch has seats on both sides right
Crowds aren't just a NASCAR issue its an overall sports issue. There are more empty seats at major sporting events everywhere.

Indy has always been one of my faves, probably because I loved to run it on video games back in the day.

It's Kyle Busch and 39 guys who might as well be riding tricycles out there

Yeah I just turned it on and I'm completely stunned at the amount of empty seats. Looks like practice or a ARCA race. This is supposed to be a top 5 marquee race for the year. Indy officials can't be pleased with NASCAR.

You think Hendrick wishes they had Kyle now? That team Gordon Johnson Kyle and Vickers was a monster team.
The best thing Kyle did was move to Gibbs, Joe and Coy have reeled him in and he is the best driver out there now.

I know it is super hot there today.
I was really stunned at the empties though. The place holds like 350K and if I had to guess it looks like 100K, at most.

Whoever approved Paul menards car design should be shot.

I so want Penske to win a NASCAR race here but damn his drivers make me hope they Montoya each other.

Indy may start to rethink holding this race in the future based on the crowd attendance. No way they can make much money with that sparse crowd. I guess the economy is maybe worse than what we are made to believe. It's not just this track that I've noticed the reduction in attendance this year. NASCAR may have to rethink their pricing structure for seating. Selling a ton of tickets at lower prices may help them in other sectors like merchandise, concession sales for the track owners, etc... Just the cosmetic look of this on the television can't help in promoting their product.

I think NASCAR believed the growth rate from 15/16 years ago was sustainable. They were mistaken when economic landscape shifted.

He's the man.
When I was up there for Indy, I got see to his whole "wing" in the museum.
Pretty dang impressive to win the 500 16 times.

It's not just pricing. The fan experience is pretty meh. Last race I went to, they didn't have much in the the way of merchandise haulers. Only the Air Force had something set up for the fans...I think it was some kind of VR experience in a jet or something. Someone who has been to a race more recently might know if they've just done away with each team having a merchandise booth
Literally, it was just a race. Not many pre-race activities that used to be such a big deal.

Yes he is he's such a pioneer for racing, all forms.

Well Talladega and Daytona have both torn down their backstretch grandstands. Bristol next month will be telling. I know it used to be one of the hardest tickets in sports behind the Super Bowl but I think it's not even selling out anymore. Also the fact that Indy is on NBCsn and not even on NBC itself this year speaks volumes. NBC is looks to be airing a low tier PGA event instead.

How are they doing this? There's no way these cars are going this many laps on a fuel run.
