i thought the word was denver was going to release orton over the next week or two... didn't make sense to me but neither did drafting tebow for what they gave up to get him

I didn't hear that. I heard Orton is still the guy going into training camp.

obviously Tebow's value was there in the late 1st.

So looking at last year's draft, you are telling me that Bey is worth the 7th pick in the draft.

I am critical of the pick because I don't think he will be successfull at the NFL level.

Look at the thread on this topic. I have seen everything from Tebow making an impact on special teams kick coverage to now Denver completely revamping there offense to fit Tebow's strengths.

I question the Bronco's commitment to winning. They Fire one of the Best Coaches in the League, They fire one the the ten best QB's in the league and they fire one of the best WR's in the league. For Tim Tebow, at best right now a two to three year project that may or may not work out. If I were a fan of the Bronco's I would be upset with the organization.

I refuse to accept that??

Whether i accept it or not(which i do), i still think its a horrible pick anyway you slice.

But he can easily be way better than all these guys too.

I dont think the Bronco's, when said and done, will say, " you know what? that pick was worth it because he wasnt as big of a bust as Cade McNown or Tim Couch."

Tebow has to become an All Pro QB, or a Super Bowl winning QB to justify the massive "reach" job that the Bronco's had. Otherwise he is a failure.

I will take Denver's analysis on him over what Lester thinks of him.

did you take the teams analysis over someone else's opinion every time one of those QB's you listed were picked???

+1

i give this kid 2 years. 3 max

i saw enough of him when he went apeshit over winning a regular season game over the Patriots.

drafting Tebow doesnt help anything when you have needs elsewhere. I doubt if he's even around to enjoy "his pick"

Off the subject but these two dont belong in the same conversation. Couch played 5 years for the worst team in football. He was a warrior for us taking us the the playoffs in his last year. Injurys cut him short.

I was in the Dome when he threw the Hail Mary, a thing of beauty.

make no mistake I'm sure Denver thinks Tebow will be their starting qb in 2011.

Is this a requirement of yours for any team that selects any player late in the 1st round? I mean COME ON. They still have 6 more picks left with zero coming from the 7th round and they already had two 1st round picks. Sound like a pretty good arraignment of picks.

I don't get why you require Tebow to fulfill a higher expectation than any other player that has ever been taken in any spot in the history of this sport. It is unbelievable to me how much you are forcing him to succeed to justify this pick.

You make is sound like he must be fricking Peyton Manning to justify what the Broncos did. You are really showing some kind blind hatred against Tebow so if he fails YOUR expectations you can go around and say "I told you so."

Is this the case with every first round pick? Or just the ones you don't like?

they gave up a bit to get him... but if he's a solid starter for 10 years in the NFL it's not too much

But Lester isn't stupid to raise the question of how good you have to be to justify giving up a lot... even tho Ricky Williams was great for a little while the Saints gave up way too much to get him

i like Tebow

i just don't like the pick or the fact they traded up to get a position that wasn't really needed and picked Tebow of all people.

This is a team that lost 8 of its last 10 games.

and Orton had a good season. 21 TDs 12 INT. His QB rating was a respectable 86%

a team that historically is a great running team, who couldnt run the ball last year

esp when Clausen and McCoy still on the board

it almost seems like a publicity stunt. I cant wrap my finger around it.

and you ask why the high expectations?? like i said, they have 2 QBs, one who they traded for this offseason. They are sending the message that they think Tebow is the guy who can lead their team and not these other guys. They even traded up for him.

he has a lot on his shoulders. Just about anyone who knows football thinks he isnt suitable to be a great NFL QB. Except the Bronco's. Which is exactly why he needs to justify his draft position or its a massive failure

It is clear that there are NO can't miss players. So, unless they gave up a proven player, we can't even tell exactly what they gave up. One or two "who knows if they can play?" for him.

What exactly did they give up?t

I guess they think Tebow could potentially be better than Clausen and Mccoy.

Justifying his selection is pure subjective. If Tebow has a career similar to McNabb's career and never wins a super bowl, but was a solid starter for them and was always competitive, then I think the pick was justified.

which is all the more reason he better show up and win some games, since they took him with those 2 on the board still.

I just dont think he is that guy to do so.. Just my opinion.

Idk about that. They did nicely replacing brandon Marshall if Thomas is good.
(which I don't think he will be good)

"The Broncos traded three picks to Baltimore for the Ravens' first-round pick, then took Tebow at No. 25 with two more polished quarterbacks, Texas' Colt McCoy and Notre Dame's Jimmy Clausen, still available.

The Broncos gave up choices in the second (No. 43), third (No. 70) and fourth (No. 114) rounds to move back into the first round and draft Florida's southpaw quarterback, whom McDaniels had raved about last week."
