This is takeoff on the state championship thread. What is the worst loss you've ever experienced? My junior year in football, our top 3 players were injured. It was a very small school and we were playing 9 man football. We were down to 11 players total and were playing one of the best teams in the state who had 60 guys on their roster. We were down 44-0 after the first quarter and 80-0 at halftime. We got on the bus and our assistant coach said, "I just want to know one thing. Has anyone on the team made a tackle the first half?" Our head coach said the refs gave us two options. We could either quit right then and go home, or play two 8 minute running time quarters. We voted to go for the running time and ended up losing 88-0. Funny this is that we were 5-4 that year, but with our three best players out with injuries we were totally embarrassed that day.

For a team you played on or a team you root for?

Mavericks 116 Rockets 76 in Game 7

Alabama game this year.

I wasn't an Aggie for the OU game, so I don't count that one. I was laughing at Aggies that day.

Indoor soccer against a team we beat 5-1 in outdoor with a full team. We lost like 14-0 we had no substitutes and they were throwing out three shifts of players. I drank a big gulp on the way home to drown my 12 year old sorrows.

In regionals, my soccer team blew a 4-0 halftime lead. We lost 5-4. It was like a bad dream.

My first start in the Minors

In front of our home crowd opening night, walked the bases loaded and gave up a triple on the first strike I threw to next batter.

Got yanked right then while the entire crowd chanted "GO BACK TO LAKELAND."

Junior year of HS. Had a 20-3 lead going into the fourth quarter against our arch rival on the road. They were 6-1 going in, we were 4-3. Ended up losing 24-23. I got over losses in HS fairly quickly, but not that one. That one and our home playoff loss the year before were brutal. The rivalry loss was embarrassing. We didn't want to really show our faces around town after that

Most embarrassing was two years after I graduated, my HS lost their season opener 71-3 to a team that finished 2-8.

When I was in 7th grade, our high school lost a tournament game 107-21. The loss was to St Vincent-St Mary's

Lost 64-3 in 7th grade basketball. A solid 3/4 of the team was suspended for at least half the game. Gotta love bottom 5 scrubs playing the whole game. Upset that team in the conference tourney later in the year at full strength.

Next practice sucked as we did nothing but run for laughing at our own teammates being terrible.

We lost district in a bad loss (13-1) to a team we crushed earlier in the year (12-2). Their junk ball pitcher was unhittable that day and never hit 80 on the radar. Dude had a 5+ era

One that I was a part of was losing 14-3 in a championship to a team we already beat my junior year of travel ball. Dj Lemieux or however you spell it had a monster game

Little league baseball, blew a 9 or 10 run lead in the last inning or 2. I was responsible for part of it as i missed a routine throw from 2B and 1B and few of them scored.

Mine is very similar to yours, though mine was when I was ten in a youth league. Lost 64-6 to the best team in the league, opposing coach kept his starters in the whole game with minor subbing here and there (each team had 9 players so plenty of depth, frick that guy). My cousin, who was this short arse hick who was probably the best player in the league, had a bad sinus infection and had to sit out. Played them again in the playoffs with Jethro back and only lost by 5 or 6 points. Best I've ever felt after a season ending loss.
