I imagine he will play first some, especially once Harrison gets back

Article on ESPN about how the Yankees should trade Servino and another to the Reds for Chapman. Setting up Chapman, Betances, Miller back of the bullpen.... that just would not be fair

All I have heard for three weeks is that Servino is off limits and is the focus of Cashmans resurgent farm system.

That is true, Cashman does not want to get rid of him or Judge. The writer was just circulating a rumor really, I mean it is fun to think about but no way happening.

Yankees have the 10th best bullpen in MLB and 5th best in the AL. Adding Chapman would essentially make every gave 5-6 innings for the Yankees. Chapman, Miller, and Betances can all go more than 1 inning.

Does one of those guys make the Yankees a real contender?

I don't see it.

Getting to the playoffs would be a nice move this year, but giving away top prospects for a closer is not a smart move if you are NY.

well they have the 3rd best record in the AL and they've gone 10-6 vs Angels, Royals, and Astros this season. I think they are a contender, they have a decent rotation, a damn strong bullpen, and an offense that is above average.

Fangraphs playoff odds give the Yankees the highest WS % of any AL team fwiw. Now that is far from exact science, but basically any team that makes the playoffs is a legit contender in my book and they are 5.5 games up.

Every Team right now has questions
Yankees: age/health + starting rotation health
Royals: starting pitching/offense
Astros: consistent hitting production
Angels: starting rotation and hitting outside of Trout/Pujols
Blue Jays: pitching

so it isn't like the Yankees are the only team with issues, imo they have less issues than the rest going through. The offense is good enough to win games, the starting rotation outside of CC has been fairly consistent, and the bullpen has been lights out. They are 16-13 in 1 run games, 14-12 vs the west, 9-4 vs central

Yeah, there is no great team in the AL. I don't see one team that is clearly superior to the Yankees.

Yeah and I doubt the Yankees mortgage the future... Chapman wouldn't bother me, he is young, under control for another season, and one of the best at his position.

Chapman almost seems like he would be overkill given their current bullpen, but if they did get him that would be a filthy group. Their starters would only have to go 5 innings in the playoffs. Miller and Chapman would be death to any lefties late in the game.

I feel like that would be a mistake, so I hope the Cubs do it and it costs a lot.

Sorry not sorry.

I wonder if it would take Baez. Baez/Crawford middle infield would be solid in Philly.
