I'm very happy with what the Reds have gotten so far. They accomplished what they needed to which was move the two movable assets in Leake and Cueto that had expiring contracts.
I'd like to see us move Byrd, but Bruce and Chapman can be shopped in the off-season. Or we can just keep Bruce forever.

#Mets and #Reds doing due diligence on Zack Wheeler and Jay Bruce. Pretty far along. Don't know if another player would be involved.

Agreed. Would have liked to see a potential bat or two come across, but its ok.

oh yea, y'all have stocked up on arms.
I can see moving Bruce and dat dude, but where will the sticks come from in the next two years??
Especially if Wheeler is the center peice of the Bruce deal.
Brewers are stocking the farm too. This division is hard

Only bat on the farm to attempt to fap to is Winker, and he hasn't been tearing it up or anything.
If the Bruce for Wheeler deal goes down, I gotta think that the chances of Chapman being moved for some bats increases enormously.

So much on the Padres today. I cannot believe they haven't made one deal yet.
And then they get a puff piece that "they might not be selling" . Screams desperation.

I feel like Jay Bruce should be better than he has been.

Preller definitely trying to save face on his debacle of an offseason and get as much value as possible

I like what the Reds did with the Cueto and leake trades but don't like the Bruce trade that seems like it is going to happen. Not that opposed to it but if the Reds are trading Bruce (signed through 17), they should be trading Frazier and chapman this offseason and do a full rebuild.
They won't be competitive the next two yeRs and you can't sign a closer for big money or Frazier for big money when he is 32 (2017).

Hell, with the way Familia has performed since the All Star break, maybe we should just go ahead and get Chapman in this trade as well

He and Cargo have had eerily similar career arcs.

I think thats what most people think. I accepted what Bruce was about 3 years ago: low average, high power, streaky, and lacking plate discipline. Once I accepted that he was that player, I stopped being frustrated with him.

Ooof...is this the pads admitting that contract is bad?

Add in that Pat Murphy pulled Matt Kemp and Justin Upton the other day just to troll the media and fans.
Kind of admire they are running a billion dollar enterprise like drunk college kids.

Yeah Bruce is a good player. Not great, but good. Expectations are what kill people's perceptions of him.
Outside of last year, his consistency over a season (not within a season) is remarkably close year to year. Basically always 20 pct above average at the late and above average defense in right.
