Byron Scott is coaching for his job this year so expect him to be a little more flexible than in the past

so he would be more likely to play proven veterans than unproven rookies

you are really reaching here

No I just don't see him being as stubborn as usual..having a more "what do I have to lose" mentality. If Butler is not getting it done, I see Scott trying different things before just being ok with poor play.

no interest in defense

bullshite. Now, he may lack the physical attributes to guard opposing SG's in the NBA, but to say he has "no interest" is laughable. He improved a lot from a defensive standpoint in between his junior and senior season at LSU. He bought into TJ's system and I never once questioned MT's effort on the defensive end last year.

Ahh, that's more like it. I'm not going to argue that one. I can definitely see him having a tough time guarding bigger/more explosive shooting guards.

Also, I think the Hornets will be in significant trouble if Marcus Thornton is starting in the NBA as a rookie (and that's not a knock on MT). Yes he has had some early success in summer ball but the talent isn't even comparable to what he'd say during a regular season NBA game.

My entire point in this thread is more of a knock on Butler than it is for praising Marcus Thornton.

I don't expect huge things outa Thornton numbers wise, but I think he will contribute more than Butler and will eventually send Butler to the bench, where he definitely belongs.

He measured 6'3 without shoes and 6'4 with them. You don't know much about counting.
