No idea but it doesn't sound like something that will be done by the trade deadline

Sam Amick? @sam_amick Not surprising in the least, but I'm told Kobe was pushing hard for this Rob Pelinka-Lakers partnership. The Kobe influence will be felt.

Firing Kupchak doesn't seem like the best move to me, other than being stuck with Kobe (maybe not even his fault) he's done a solid job

Mitch Kupchak & Jim Buss are 84-230 the past 4 seasons.

The 2 biggest free agents they signed were Deng & Mosgov at $136 million dollars for 4 years.

And couldn't resign their own ( Dwight Howard) .

Though I don't blame them because Howard is a bit flaky.

He almost lost Kobe before he went on to win 2 FMVPs for the Lakers.

Yeah, I like Magic. But when you're a popular person in a huge city like Los Angeles and you have a lot of money, it's easy to take advantage of business opportunities to make even more money.

Just so " easy" to set up a Billion dollar corporation?

Sandy Koufax, Wilt Chamberlain, Jerry West ,Kareem , Coach John Wooden , Worthy etc....must not have gotten that memo about how easy it is to parlay your fame / millions into a Billion dollar enterprise.

Ask Lenny Dykstra or Curt Schilling how " easy " it is to do what Magic did.

Give me the long list of ex famous athletes ( who earned less than $25 million) who parlayed it into a Billion dollar enterprise .

(And I'll give you Detroits Dave Bing who did well in the Steel industry with his Bing Group ).

" Legacy" nonsense doesn't frighten Magic. You can't build a Billion dollar enterprise if you are afraid of failing or taking risks.

Magic only has to improve upon a 84-230 record . The worst 4 year stretch in Lakers history.

Getting better Free agents than Mosgov / Deng & getting the Franchise back in the right direction is a win for Magic.

And your point? Magics father wasnt worth over $100 million dollars.

Magic used his own little nest egg to build his Enterprise which Dykstra & Schilling will tell you is risky.

Dr Jerry Buss earned his 1st millions in Real Estate not Basketball that he knew very little about.

Worked out fine.
