ESPN sources say Cavs forward Kevin Love has opted out of the final year of his contract and will be a free agent July 1

Was this expected (i.e. contract purposes, under the assumption that the Cavs would re-sign him) or is he gone?

I don't think he wants to be there and I'm not entirely sure they want him, either.

(Just my opinion, I have very little to back this up )

I think it's hilarious that the Cavs are going to throw max $ at an offensive rebounder because he has the same agent as LeBron.

Keeping Love and getting rid of TT is the correct play, too bad LeBron would throw a hissy fit.

Most recent Rotoworld post:

quote:

Despite the Cavs repeatedly stating that they fully intend to re-sign Kevin Love this offseason, rival GMs around the league reportedly expect Cleveland to eventually agree to a sign-and-trade deal involving Love.
With how well Tristan Thompson played during the Cavs postseason run after Love went down with a dislocated shoulder, Cleveland may seriously consider moving Love this offseason. The Cavs gave up a potential superstar in Andrew Wiggins to land Love in Cleveland, so it's unlikely they simply let Love walk as a free agent. However, a sign-and-trade would give them the ability to get back some assets, so this report isn't completely unreasonable.

It was expected either way but he still could be gone. No one really knows what that guy is thinking.
