I don't get it. ULL's own website refer to themselves as ULL.

ULL appears to be the one's getting mad about people calling them by their real name according to this thread in which you posted.

Why does it matter what they want to call themselves?
We should all want the LA schools to improve, and if branding as UL is going to help them then by all means.
The hellraising that would go on here if some ESPN broadcaster called LSU "LSU A&M @ BR" for the whole game would be insane.

If your proper name was Huge Dick Gobbler, wouldn't you be upset if people used your full name instead of your preferred ("Dick").

Because "ULL" is a distinctly regional school type name. UL akin to the name that the "flagship" school of the other state's similar university systems have. Now, that's a very good reason for Tech et. al to get upset about it, but not LSU.

Wrong. Nothing from the university refers to itself as ULL.
