I have seen public school coaches fight it for years then they just give in to it. Guys who were great coaches sort of just riding out the string, tired of fighting it.

My goodness, did you not read the article? In the communities that play good football, that's exactly what they do in PUBLIC schools. It's strange how you can be proven wrong over and over, yet you keep coming back to the same discredited points.

What are you talking about? 35 of the 44 teams that have played for 5A state championships have been teams that will be non-select. Aside from Evangel's years, 5A has been a class about suburban schools with tremendous resources that do exactly the things you always say public schools can't do.
It proves my point. If public schools commit to their football programs, they can compete with the best of the private schools.

So you're telling me Parkview Baptist is "stacked?" Notre Dame is "stacked?" Ouachita Christian is "stacked?"
Does Notre Dame have a Division I player? Parkview's best player wll play college baseball. A few others will play FCS/Sun Belt level. OCS has...what? Lots of good high school players?
They win because they don't have school boards in their way of hiring the staff that needs to be hired and building the continuity between the middle school and high school and getting kids to commit.
It's EXACTLY what the West Monroes, Nevilles and the public schools mentioned in the article do.

Wait...just a few lines above you said it was about schools that "have its athletes on campus for 8 years."
Now it's about recruiting stud players?
Again, the only problem I see is rural schools with access to nothing more than a small town population have to compete against private schools that have access to major metro areas. When the private school does a good job with its program, it's going to draw players away from the large public schools that deal with ridiculous school system limitations. And there's no way a town of 5k people or whatever a 2A town is, cna compete with that.

Be real here. Curtishas 400 kids with athletics as the prime reason for the school. It's going to draw players from an area of about 500,000 people. The schools it competes with have enrollments of 400, far fewer of which will ever have an interest in football. The same radius that gives Curtis access to half-an-million people will give, say, Winnfield, access to maybe 5-6k people.
That is apples and oranges. No way those schools are in any way comparable.

I don't believe the selects will be considred the "champions". If you look at other states Miss and Tenn the public schools are the considred the "champions". I think it will be the same in LA due to more people are in public schools. I'm sure there will be debate as both sides will have arugments for which teams are better.

Again in those states the selects were moved to protect them not that way here....although curtis and ECA were sent to play in their enrollment class to protect a few

When Tennessee split, there were seven schools in the private side. Louisiana would probably lose a third of its schools, I'm guessing.

We played Curtis, Newman, Belle Chasse and Buras every year in district! That was the old AA years. We couldn't duck them. We scored on Curtis!

All you've got to do is get private schools out of the small classes and everybody would get as much out of it as they put into it.
The system's broken as it was only because a school like UHigh or Curtis was in the same class as Kinder, Winnfield and Loreauville. No way those little towns can muster what an urban private school can muster.

I'm waiting for "We can't compete with Haynesville / Springhill / South Plaquemines, etc." coming from these same schools in a few years.

You must not have seen Winnfield the past 2 years. As many good athletes as U high. If they had the coaching U high did, they would have made it to the dome again this year. Their D line was unreal.
