Dude was a beast. Hated the few times we played against them.
Didn't play against him but remember my brother playing against him--Barksdale from Central was a sharp shooter.
Best team I remember watching growing up was the early/mid 90's Glen Oaks teams (Earls, Powell, Cole) The battles with Tara/Mckinley/Central were epic.
Best team I played against was the 97-99 Woodlawn BR teams.

Did you attend LHS then? Who was the coach at that time?

Thread title and discussion got swayed a little. If we are going to talk about the 90's then having no mention of Randy Livingston is absurd. Rashard Allen from Ehret was a damn good player as well. Gerald Honeycutt was a good one too.

@rich yep. Graduated in 96. We went 20-10 my freshman year lost to logansport in second round. 18-12 soph year lost to newelton second round. Junior year 20/10 lost to Troy green and White Castle in second round. Senior year won district and lost to Rogers Washington and Hanson first round. Back then class A ball was just unfair with southern lab, Grambling, White Castle, and Arcadia.

Topic I created was late 90's however early 90's there was plenty talent also. Livingston was great at the high school level, but the knees were done when he got to college.

95'.
Edgerson is a globe trotter now. or was. went to Arizona out of HS.
Lester Earl won the MVP of the state championship vs Rummel and gave the trophy to Corey Powell. For as big of a POS as people think he was, that was a classy gesture.
Posted on 1/28/16 at 7:21 pm to Lester Earl
will also throw in Derek Burditt (Ehret), Danny Granger (Grace King), Tim Bush (Shaw)

Blew out his knee in practice at the Magic Johnson All-Star game. Landed on some guys foot. A shame. I saw a lot of his games. Best high school player I have ever seen. He was a better all around player than Chris Jackson.
Another player who hasn't been mentioned is Kerry Kittles. He was a great player at St Aug, Villanova and a more than serviceable NBA player.

I remember those Capitol teams very well. They had bench player named Michael Jordan during those years - when he would enter the game/do anything noteworthy to get mentioned by the PA, the crowd would go into hysterics. Fun times.

I was a sports writer covering that game. Midland kept it close but Rayne won. That team had Byron and Brian Mouton, Blaine Harmon and went about 9 deep.

Cool. Yea I remember those contest we always intense. Were you there when Briley dropped 53 on that Australian junior national team? Dude could shoot the lights out.

Cool, well I went to Iota so we weren't a basketball power by any means but as close as our schools were, we never played basile. I was there from 97-01.

I was at the Madhouse the night Roy Williams and the who's who of coaches were there. I'm pretty sure it was the Arcadia game.
Who as the kid from the little school that was a B classification? Smithville or something? Kid was lights out
Eta: there was also a kid from Airline in '98. Big time player

I played at BPCC 98-99 and Chris Rogers from Byrd was cold and could flat out play. He went on to play at Providence. There were a few cats on that team that went on to play DI.Chris Thompson (Airline), TheAnthony Haymond (Haughton) Pat Stevens(Bossier). I also played against Stromile's AAU team and they were loaded. They had 2 team the Runnin Rebels and the Blue Devils. I know that Arnez Battle was the PG on that team as well.

He was a starter for at least a couple of years. He dressed varsity as a freshman and probably came off the bench as a sophomore.
And a name brought up by others, "The Briley Express"!
