You still get a trophy, I just doesn't mean as much when you played a watered down field.
And it isn't the kids fault, they did the most they could in the system available. I just think the system is flawed.

Then they tried the split. Still getting a lot of unhappy schools (or at least unhappy message board posters who may or may not represent what different schools feel - to be honest, I haven't really heard a lot of schools complaining about the playoff only split over the years it's been in effect).
Bingo
actually - they gave many just a taste of what a total split would be like and many like it.....

If there was a public/private split in all sports and the privates left and formed their own association:
Would they be allowed to play public schools?
Would public schools suffer from not having the gate and concessions splits with private schools?
Could a public school leave the lhsaa and join the private association?
I sincerely have these questions.

1) Probably not. The LHSAA doesn't allow them to play MAIS schools, so they probably wouldn't allow that either. For the record, I think they should be allowed to play if they choose to.
2) Some would, but most wouldn't. From my understanding, the urban schools may suffer, but it would incentivize them to find ways to increase attendance. Community centered public schools would be just fine.
3) That would totally depend on the new organization. No school is obligated to be a member of the LHSAA, public or private.

the biased NOLA and BR media is the real problem... not doing real reporting and misleading people as to the real chances of ending the split. they get our hopes up about it. the Many principal even said as much when he said "we need to get our story out". Ron Brocato is the worst and needs to accept reality, and Ken Trahan and Ed Daniels need to accept the truth

The big questions If they fully split and the privates jump ship... Will cross association play be allowed.... Personally, don't see how it could be avoided especially with our litigious society.. And the elephant in the room... The officials.. The privates first move would probably be in securing the best officials by paying them more with other assurances a probably exclusivity..

hence - those you mentioned know all too well what really started this ball rolling....

You have about 10-15 schools who have ruined it for the other private schools. New Orleans area schools are the worst. If they can resolve the issue of a good portion of their athletes are coming from out of their school zone, then there will be no more split. They are looking to add a percentage to offset the advantage those private schools have over the public schools. I also think that 5 and 4a don't need to be split because there's so many kids that usually it all equals out.
John Curtis, Evangel, UHigh should all be forced to play up.

Privates really can't jump ship. There's not enough of them to really get together.
Public schools now on the other hand were ready to jump ship.

Why is football split, the sport with the most participants, but the rest are not? It's much easier for 1 player to affect a baseball or basketball game than football. The best player in the state very rarely wins a championship in football, but can carry a team to a title in baseball/basketball.

as a last resort.... the mid sized ones will get hosed because the little guys don't want them and the big boys will hammer them

This issue is deep rooted and has been brewing for a long time. People tend to get hung up on football only and believe me it has been a problem in football for a long time. The problem is also with the other major sports (Basketball, Baseball, and Softball). Private schools have been dominating these sports for a long time now and people have had enough. Now that the public school principals have the numbers in their favor they are going to change the landscape of the LHSAA.

Another question is how will the public schools deal with the charters.. New governor may have some indirect say in their future but they have some big advantages over all schools.

The privates have not dominated Basketball, either side, havent dominated softball either.. Baseball ...yes they have but there is a myriad of reasons why not having anything to do with any nefarious actions by the privates.

What a joke. Hopefully the private schools leave the LHSAA and form their own association. Gonna be fun watching private school recruiters camp out in public school parking lots in order to steal the best players.
Maybe start in the Winfield and Many parking lots.
