#LHSAA School Relations Comm requests a special sess of member-school principals be called to vote on their "Hybrid Non-Discriminatory Plan"

LHSAA ?@LHSAA 2m2 minutes ago
Their Plan would separately unite Class 5A & 4A back together. Classes B & C will combine. Class 1A, 2A & 3A will split Rural/Metro. #LHSAA

LHSAA ?@LHSAA 2m2 minutes ago
If voted into action, there will be 9 #LHSAA state champions in all classification sports minus football which will have 8 state champions.

I respect the hell out of Lewis Cook, but, in my opinion, this is just as bad as select/ non select split.
I have an idea, how about each team do a SWOT analysis, and determine the best way for them to beat those who have "unfair" advantage of being from the city? Not to be that guy, but HS sports is here to teach kids to become men and women. what kind of competitor are you raising if you're going to give them the built in excuse of "we can't compete, because we live in the country?"

But it's the only solution that makes sense for all involved. It's the compromise position.

As evidenced by the fact that Notre Dame is considered "rural".

If the end result is non-select schools winning 75% of the football championships on average, the outrage will be immense.

Do it. I only really care what happens to Chalmette and 5A. Everyone else can have the split if they want it.

The B and C combining might be a problem for the smaller C schools. They should take all 1a, B, and C, and combine C and the lower half of 1a, and B with the upper half of 1a

5A and 4A should absolutely be put back together.

In my opinion it's a step in the right direction.

I think the theory behind rural/metro is smaller/rural schools feel they are at a huge disadvantage being grouped together with a small private school in a metro area. Even if the small schools get past the allegations of recruiting, I don't think they will ever believe they are on an even playing field in regards to the talent pool a small private school has in a metropolitan area.

So, would 3A metro private school, for example, not be able to have student athletes from outside the city limits (rural area)?

A few years I thought the split work fine. With just the football split. I don't know what the point of splitting basketball was

I agree with you. I was only pointing out what I believe is the genesis of the metro/rural proposal.
