Didn't see this already posted. But a new proposal for the football playoffs was brought up at the coaches convention. Instead of public and private it would be rural vs metro. I think it's kind of intriguing

All three proposals would divide LHSAA schools based on their location in relation to one of eight Louisiana metro areas – Alexandria, Baton Rouge, Lafayette, Lake Charles, Monroe, New Orleans, Northsore/I10 and Shreveport. Schools located within 9.5 miles of a densely populated metro area are considered metro in each plan.

Schools located beyond those boundaries would be rural. Though the plan is designed to address football, Cook said he feels like it could be used for other sports as well.

Just when you thought the system now was bad...

This is a terrible idea...

Select and non select makes sense but this does not

I think a multiplier would be the best way to resolve it but no private schools would go for it.

How does this solve the issue of teams that recruit (private) beating the shite out of teams that can't (public)?

I think the premise of it is to get at least start a process of schools getting back together. And you won't have teams from small towns going up against schools in big cities where in theory they have more kids to choose from. Not a perfect solution by any means though but it's still interesting

That's called size classifications. We already have that.

If you think public schools can't or don't recruit you are lying to yourself.

Public schools only can play kids that live in their district, private schools can play with kids who live anywhere. So who do you think recruits more?

And this is really only about two schools

And how they were forced to play down ten years ago to beat up on those with the fewest resources rather than beating up those with the most resources

I assume that this would have Notre Dame of Crowley in a weaker division.

I'm against the split. This proposal is still a split, just a different version.

Put everyone back together, and use a point system to move teams up & down based on results. Enrollment is kind of meaningless. Just wait til the IMG Academy model makes its way into LA.

What is Notre Dame so scared of? Wouldn't they love to beat up on rural teams.

This must be because Parkview's been whipping their arse after the rivalry was pretty even in the past.
