12 state titles? That's great.

Are they even going to keep score during the playoffs?

How did Destrehan lose twice to District champs Central Lafourche and come out as a higher seed?

Some of these brackets should just host a Thurs thru Sunday double elimination tournament

Looking at Div II in particular

Because they played 30 other games?

Talked to more than a couple of coaches this season that agreed that district standings mean almost nothing these days. It's all power ratings.

That's why you see these teams going out of state and going 2-2 or 1-2 in tournaments with high-power teams from other states. It's all about the power rankings, and I like it. Some districts are tough. Some are cupcakes.

Intriguing possible 2nd round matchup. If WM beats Live Oak tonight, Barbe would have to travel to 20 seed WM this weekend. WM is down from last year, but did beat Barbe pretty badly this year.

Higher seeds host no matter what now. Think once they installed the best two out of three they did away with lower seeds hosting.

First of all CL is good. Second I think it’s SOS. Zachary twice which we split, Sam Houston and sulphor.

I gotcha. So WM can’t be home in round 3 regardless, but if Walker beats Barbe they’d be home round 2. I guess it’s possible. Barbe lost in round 1 last year and Walker has a Dude. Safe travels for everyone.

They could make a whole separate tournament with all the 12 state champs

Breaux Bridge has a very solid lineup, went essentially unchallenged in district.

Well coached with good leadership, lots of upperclassmen, but might not have the pitching to win back to back in Sulphur.

Not sure how much pitching they have but it will be tough in a 1 game take all in the semis agains west Ouachita or South Lafourche.

The bottom bracket for 4a is a little less intriguing but I do see a potential second round upset in Neville over Deridder. Deridder has a great #1 but after that their pitching is suspect.

CL started slow non-district and lost to some "meh" teams, then they turned it on. Comeaux gonna be a tough first round matchup, they beat some good teams and played Sam Houston tough twice.

Well Destrehan has the best pitcher in the state but CL never faced him. But upsets over Zachary and an errror away from beating Sam Houston plus the other tough early season games made us a decent team.

They might as well do away with districts
CHS could've lost every district game and still made playoffs in select.
Other than getting a bye there is nothing really meaningless about the regular season for select schools.
I agree, do some sort of select tournament instead.
Plus teams like Uhigh and Parkview could compete in the higher classification of select.

All three Ascension teams are down this year.

Districts will never go away because of scheduling purposes. It's hard enough for some teams to schedule 2-3 non district games in football could you imagine AD's having to try and fill 100's and 100's of games in every sport.

Yeah, I think Neville has all of its pitching back from their title last year

Why does Barbe suck so bad this year? The run finally over?
