Lebatard, a true journalist.

don't disagree with DL about the overpunishing that Goodell does on the reg. But in terms of this particular situation (Deflategate, even though I despise that name), the general public not knowing that was a rule is completely irrelevant to anything IMO. Do you realize how much shite there is in the rule books that we, the public, have no idea about? I'd bet it's a to
I think the larger problem he's talking about is that Goodell took a tiny issue and made it into the clusterfrick it is today
It's such a small piece of the game that he should've just fined/scolded the Pats, and taken steps to fix the process in which the balls are process pregame (that has issues obviously) and then stated from then on it would come down hard on people caught Doing something like that and set a pre determined punishment for it.
Yada yada yada everyone forgets in about a week and the issue is fixed.
But no, Goodell made it a circus

That's the whole point, and Lebatard even touched on this. There's no such thing as bad publicity. The NFL is (well, it should be) irrelevant this time of year, especially after the draft when there is a few months before fantasy really kicks in and preseason football begins. The AFC Championship game was on Jan 18. Four months later, May 18, the media is still talking about a ridiculous and purposefully manufactured "scandal" that ESPN milks the frick out of and it overshadows NHL, NBA, MLB & NCAA Baseball! Four months later! That's absurd.
Also, they are all laughing with this all the way to the bank. The Patriots, as if winning a 4th super bowl with Brady wasnt enough, get a scandal attached to it and are still getting their name in the media. Hell even Kraft is getting tons of air time. It's a circus...a circus that they all want to relish in. They are printing money.

TBH that's probably more of the media's fault than Goodell

Uhm, yeah it does. Just watch Brady's jersey sales skyrocket and he will be laughing all the way to the bank too.

You do realize the group that has been trying to get rid of the name for I think 15 years is not a "white" group, right?
No clue what you're even talking about here.

No. The story was dead. It just needed an ending that didn't rile up the masses

What, you mean their 50 slide power point presentation didn't convince you of the veracity of the league's claims?

WRONG.
And, they've done polls which show only a small minority of American Indians want the Redskins to change the name.
Posted on 5/18/15 at 5:18 pm to MMauler
Don't turn this into a stupid race thread. The common conception is that the name is not politically correct. For the NFL to ignore this while trying to uphold an image is clearly contradictory. LeBataed is right and smart to point out this discrepancy. Whether this name is or isn't any issue is not the point of this article or thread. So shut the frick up whitey.

WRONG.

Is that so?
Also...
They even talk about the poll that you are probably referencing, that Goodell referenced, and that poll was found to be not so trustworthy.

I don't know. It seems like Pats fans are pretty galvanized against the league. I would venture a guess that sales of Brady jerseys are up amongst the chowderheads. Bountygate galvanized saints fans. NFL fandom is regional. As long as local/regional fans continue to support their team the NFL will continue to print money.
