The Los Angeles Lakers have had significant interest with Cousins, but their No. 2 overall pick isn't as appealing to the Kings as finding a deal that includes established, veteran players. Ranadive doesn't want to rebuild with a move into a new arena on the horizon, and Karl is chasing Don Nelson's all-time NBA career victories record. Karl's interest isn't in cultivating long-term assets, but rather compiling as many victories as possible in the near future.

This is where the Lakers pull in a third team that has a boner for Okafor.

Depends how SAC likes Randle. I don't think it's a bad deal for either team.

It is a super shitty deal for Sacramento. They would need to get a lot more back then what is being offered.

that really should be automatic grounds for termination if it's true.

I don't think that's terrible for Sac.

Doubtful they're winning a championship anytime soon. Might as well roll the dice and get to pick Okafor/Towns to pair with Randle.

If Sac's short term "ceiling" is 7-9 in the west then being "bad" but incredibly young isn't that bad of a tradeoff. Basically the philly philosophy.

ETA: If I was sac I'd tell LA to throw in next year's first as well.

I could see Okafor being as good as Cousins is now by his 4-5th year in the league. If you think Randle can be an above average starter the trade makes sense for SAC.

I agree. They could be getting Randle and Russell / Okefor. Despite what any of these retards say around here, that is pretty good value. Randle would likely be a top 5 pick in this draft, so they are basically getting two top picks for Cousins.

That just isn't enough for me to hand over a guy who was just 2nd team All-NBA, has 3 years left on his contract, and is on a cheap deal.

It would make more sense if he was coming up on the end of his deal and planning on walking.

Everyone agrees this is just total bullshite, right?

Does any one really believe Sacramento would do this? At the direction of 1st year retread coach?

Other than 1 player being an absolute known quantity (i.e. franchise player), while the potential of the other 2 is entirely speculative at this point.

A lot of risk for Sacramento in that deal...you are banking on two completely unproven players panning-out.

Not just no, but hell no. Cousins is 1 of the most talented players in the entire NBA. Okafor is nowhere close to him, especially in terms of athleticism, ball skills, and shooting ability.

If the Lakers thought Okafor could possibly be as good as Cousins in the NBA, they wouldn't be trying to do this trade. They would just take Okafor.

They need another 1st rounder or established talent thrown in to make it similar to the KLove deal

Would the Cavs entertain a sign and trade with love involved?

If I'm Sacramento you're taking Cousins, Landry, and Thompson or I'm hanging up.

The hit rate for Top 5 players is way less than 50%. They would be lucky of Okafor or Randle ever became close to the player that Cousins is.
