Lebron actually shot better than Kobe on jumpers last season, and he shot a lot of them. They made up 69% of his total shots, so it's not just an abberation due to low numbers.

Alot of people shot better than Kobe on jumpers last year. His knee, ankle, and fingers were so messed up he couldn't even practice with the team most of the season. Last year he had no lift on his jump shot but this year he's got his legs back under him. He adjusted his shot release on his mid range jumpers to compensate for his wrist but still hasn't found the touch from behind the 3 point line or he would be back around averaging 35 points a game

Cool story, but Lebron shot better than all high usage players in the NBA on midrange jumpers other than Dirk and Ray Allen. He shot better than Melo, Durant, Kobe, etc. It kind of kills your point about him not being able to shoot and only having a high FG% due to taking inside shots

You have a link for that stat? And even if its true thats for one season and he still only averaged a little over a point more per game than an injured Kobe Bryant did and Lebron himself had his lowest scoring average of his career since his rookie season last year which still proves my point that Lebron scores more when he's near the basket. He became more of a jump shooter and his ppg last year went down 8% from his career average. Oh and tell me how his jump shooting worked out in the Finals last year??

None of that makes any sense. His scoring average declined because his usage dropped significantly due to playing with Wade. Lebron took less shots than he had in previous years.

Stats suffer = Blame Wade
Lose = Blame Wade
Good stats = All Lebron
Win = All Lebron

Brace yourself for this next statement:

LeBron James quietly turned himself into one of the best midrange shooters in the NBA this season.

According to NBA.com's StatsCube, LeBron made 45 percent of his midrange jumpers this season, which is an incredibly efficient mark for a high-usage perimeter player. Paul Pierce made 44 percent of his midrange jumpers. Kobe Bryant made 42 percent. Derrick Rose made 40 percent. Dwyane Wade, 40 percent. Kevin Durant, 42 percent. Carmelo Anthony, 42 percent.

Ray Allen shot 46 percent, barely edging out LeBron. Statistically speaking, out of all the high-usage perimeter players in the league, LeBron was the best midrange shooter not named Dirk Nowitzki (Dirk shot 53 percent -- he's a freak).

Link to where I've done any of that? His usage declining is factual. It's not even about his stats being "worse"

It's like people who doubt LeBron's mid range game don't watch him play very much. They've created an image of him only scoring in transition because of his athleticism and want to stick to it. That's crazy that Dirk is so far ahead of everyone too.

31% Inside vs 15% Inside and only a little over a point per game more last year. Your making my point for me. Kobe takes harder and longer shots and his percentages and ppg are close to Lebron's

Your saying that the Heat minus Lebron are worse off than:

*Thunder w/o Durant
*Lakers w/o Kobe
*Magic w/o Dwight
*Knicks w/o Melo
*Bulls w/o DRose-whom wasn't even in your top 5.

All these teams without their star guy would beat the Heat without Lebron? Honestly?

still waiting on a response to this.

I don't even know what point you're trying to make, because most of your posts don't make any sense at all.

quote:

Huh? 46% is close to 59%?

quote:

69% Jumpshots vs 85% Jumpshots with only a 1% higher shooting percentage

What are you talking about? There's nearly a 6% difference in their total eFG%. That 1% difference is just on those jump shots, an area where Kobe is supposed to be better...

I jumped back in this thread in response to the below statement:

quote:

Lebron's fg% doesn't impress me that much because most of his shots come from near the rim.

I've thoroughly debunked that with links, and I'm not even sure what you're trying to argue now. Also bro, in case you didn't know this, 31% does not equal "most"

LeBron is averaging 30 points per game on 60% shooting. That's insane. Plus add 8 rebounds and 7.6

Yeah, I'll take that over Kobe.

You brought up the stat that Lebron's jumpshot percentage was higher than Kobe's "last year". I'm showing you with your links the reason its 1% higher is because he took a significantly less percentage of jumpers than Kobe did and still only shot 1% higher last year than Kobe did.

As far as me saying he scores most of his points up close I'm basing this on his whole career not just the one year where he did shoot alot of jumpers and his ppg average fell

Kobe has 5 as a superstar of his team. And don't give me that Shaq crap. Shaq won the Finals MVPs against teams from the East like the Sixers and Nets that wouldn't have made it out of the first round in the Western Conference back in those days. Watch the real NBA Finals of those years against the Kings and the Spurs and tell me who the best player in those series was. O yeah Kobe averaged 33/7/7 against the Spurs in the Western Conference Finals in 2001 so without him carrying them Shaq never gets to the Finals to win those MVPs

So he would have carried the team with or without Shaq is what you're saying
