I really don't even know what you're trying to argue anymore man.

Cavs got Kevin Love, a proven all star who averaged 26\12\4 when they got him, for a#1 pick who was unproven.

They will have him for at least 5 years.

The Cavs are a better team with Love right now and most likely for the next 5 years than they are with an unproven SG\SF.

He will cost 10-15+ mill more but that means nothing because either way they are over the Salary cap.

That's all that matters.

The Cavs made the right choice when considering the next 5 years and wanting to win championships for LeBron and that's all that mattered.

I was completely off on 33-3. I went back and looked and it wasn't close to that. They hand some insane stretch after they made the trades and LeBron came back.

Eta. It was a 34-9 run

Just hard to call anything a stupid trade if it brings you a title.

Winning a title is the collection of many things.

If they win the title with Love, does that mean they couldn't have won it without him, and other pieces instead? No.

If they don't win the title, does it necessarily mean signing Love to this extension was a bad move? I don't think so, either.

I think LeBron likes the idea of playing with Love. He obviously has some influence on what the Cavs do, so that's that. I don't really have a problem with the Cavs bringing Love back. However, if he signed elsewhere, I don't think the Cavs would be in any kind of trouble. They would have filled out their roster around two of the best players in the East in some other way, and still end up being very good.

They should have tried to hold out longer and trade rape Minnesota out of Love without having to give up Wiggins. That would have been the GOAT move.

Meh. I'd say the next two or three years.

I think they could have won a title without Love over the next two or three seasons, while also keeping a player, who will end up being better than Love, for a longer period of time.

That's what I'm arguing. I think Wiggins is going to be really good. You can say you'll take the proven star, but this is what being a GM and scouting is all about. I think Wiggins is going to be a fantastic player. If that doesn't end up happening, then I'll be the first to say I was wrong.

And my whole premise is that the Cavs wouldn't be on the outside looking in without Love, right now. They'd still be in the mix to win titles over the next two or three seasons. I think they could have had a "win now" mindset, while also looking ahead to the future. When you have LeBron and Kyrie, you have that luxury.

They are a better team with Love instead of Wiggins and will be for the next 5 years at a minimum. Do you agree?

Hard to say... Love used to be a rebounding machine in Miny... Wiggins give the Cavs a swingman that can drive the lane and create his own shot plus shoot threes.... IMO YES the would have made the finals with Wiggins instead of Love... Don't get me wrong...Love is a real nice player...But Wiggins has the potential to be A great player.........

Agreed. If the Cavs don't get a title with Love, I think this will have been an awful trade.

That said, they have a really good chance to get a title.

This. Can't we wait and see how Wiggins develops and Love plays over the next few years before saying it was a good/bad trade? Obstacle one was resigning Love and they got it done.

I don't see much chance of Wiggins ever being as good as Love. But either way at least for the next five years Love brings them a high level of shooting, rebounding, passing and the ability to affect the defense without dominating the ball. None of which Wiggins really offers at this point.

I love how people shite on the trade. Wiggins wasn't even remotely great last year and he was on a bad team where he should be putting up better numbers.

All this talk of him having the potential to be great is awesome and all, but how many have we seen flake out over the past decade.

If Love contributes like he should and they win a title it was a success. Anything short of that is a failure.

No way. They traded away Wiggins to get 6 years of Kevin Love. The trade was worth it

Now, if Love had bailed on them after just one year, then the trade would have been a diaster

Wiggins showed flashes and has the potential to be a Kobe Bryant-esque scorer if his game keeps improving

No way does Wiggins ever become a top 5 scorer in league history.
