I'm no Kaepernick fan but when did 230 become scrawny?

Remember that time he opted out of his $14 million contract?

You're being disingenuous with that line.

It’s not “huge.” It’s just him trying to stay relevant.

It's only huge if he wins. But again, that I assume that would require hard evidence, which there's virtually no chance he has.

Do you remember that time when the Ravens were about to sign him and his communist girlfriend tweeted out an image of the Ravens owner and Ray Lewis comparing them to the slave owner and Uncle Tom characters from Django Unchained, thus sabotaging his contract offer from the Ravens? I do.

This. Do you think the owners are stupid?

I mean Kaepernick, to the best of my knowledge, can only point to times when he could have potentially been signed. But the NFL isn't some game with a rating (i.e. Madden); other things besides playing ability are taken into account.

Knowledge of playbook, potential to alienate teammates (or more importantly, the fans), cost, etc.

If he thinks that Cutler being signed was a huge win, he's wrong. Cutler knew Gase's playbook (despite his flaws) and no way a Miami team was signing someone who said Castro was a great leader. Baltimore - they have huge money invested in Flacco and weren't going to deal with a potential QB controversy. Cleveland - they're looking for cheap, young, and potential, which isn't Kaepernick's game at this point.

He did opt out, you can say that he was going to be cut all you want, but there's no proof of that. He could have just let them cut him, if he was going to be cut.

Why? If it was "common knowledge" that he was going to be cut anyway, what does it matter?

I'd imagine the amount that is guaranteed makes the difference either way for every player.

It's not common knowledge bc lots still don't know that he opted out bc he was gonna be released.

He could opt out and become a free agent sooner. We know now it wouldn't have mattered, but at the time he thought he could begin looking for another team sooner. The new GM said publicly they were going to cut him.

Again, I'm not on Kap's side on this, but why wouldn't he want to dictate his own timeline. We're dealing in facts with this specific part of the situation so anybody who wants to try to make this his fault is just being emotional and won't admit that what he did wasn't wrong.

It's like when your employer wants to move on. You can resign or they can fire you. So you resign. Or opt out in this case.

Collusion implies an agreement not to sign him.

The Ravens seemed willing to sign him before his girlfriend fricked it up.
