No, that's not what i'm getting at. I am a journalist and that is a very well written article. Looks professionally written, probably by his PR people.

I guess, but it is somewhat unreasonable to think that a few drinks during your down time would have such a negative effect. I thought the same thing when this happened to that kicker last year.

They did know or should have known the rules though
I haven't read it yet, but did Gordon say he didn't realize he couldn't drink once the season is over?

There is pretty close to a 0.0% chance that is true, and I like Josh Gordon and think the rules are ridiculous, but this is over the top, if that's what happened.

Maybe, maybe not

I do agree it's pointless for media types to accuse him of shite when they know nothing about, but I do agree with Carter that Browns need to release him

If he did in fact quit weed in 2012, then that coincided with him being booted from Baylor, so maybe hitting rock bottom, if you will, again by being released will be the final wake up call

I don't agree. I thought the letter was compelling. I'm sure he had help writing it, but that doesn't mean that the subject matter came from someone else. I am glad to get his uncensored view on what happened because I care about him as a football player. And I'm glad to see someone call out the talking heads for jumping to unsubstantiated conclusions and thinking they know what's best for a person they don't know.

I hope Josh gets back to the NFL. His talent will be missed. I'd think that youngsters like OBJ would want him back, too. Any player who dreams of being the best at his craft will want the competition to be stiff--it's no achievement to be the best among a mediocre group.

I'm glad I read the whole thing. If nothing else, he persuaded me to alter my perception of him and the situation.

Cauldron probably helped, too, to some extent since they are about to get a shite ton of web traffic.

But as I said before, people just assume Gordon is a dumbass with no intelligence since he makes dumbass decision. If you listen to him talk, he's very well spoken and has an interesting perspective on life

Because he's black. That is what the guy you were quoting was getting at.

Maybe but it doesn't have to viewed that way. That's a professional looking letter. Most people in general can't write that well. Probably a majority of public figures have professional writers for this sort of thing, even if it was just a pro helping the letter be more articulate.

Great article

I don't know if I believe his second hand smoke excuse though. I've been drug tested numerous times because of all my DWIs and have been around marijuana smoke a ton and have never failed a drug test because of it

Just stupid for him to be suspended next season for this latest incident

Definitely agree

I think that part he's still in denial. If you smoke that much and can't stop even if it means getting kicked off a team, you have some sort of problem.

That's what Tyrann Mathieu had to overcome. Even if he wasn't an addict, he needed to admit to himself that he had a problem, one that he needed to fix or else he'd be out of football for good

Cris Carter, of all people, should know that not every addict(he believs Gordon is an addict, I think) should be treated the same, they don't respond the same way.

Yet, he keeps saying Gordon should be cut, because he was cut and it worked out for him. That doesn't mean it'll work out for Gordon, he may need something different.

Yep, if not an addict, he still needs some sort of assistance from somewhere for terrible deicision making.

but by the browns not cutting him and he ended up in this situation again, it serves to reason that by not cutting him did not do gordon any favors.

I think the point is nothing has worked so far, so why not cut him and see if he responds?

If he doesn't get the message after being kicked out of Baylor, doesn't get it when he gets suspended for 4 games (dropped to 2) and doesn't get it when he misses 10 games after leading the NFL in receiving, what else is there to do?

I appreciate his side of the story and realize he's blaming no one but himself, but he needs a drastic change

I hope they do cut him so he can go to a team that's not a trainwreck and knows how to handle guys like Gordon and use him on the field.

On the field, yes, but no one can help him but himself. If anyone has ever dealt with addiction as a person or with a friend/family knows this. People can only do so much before it falls on the person to fix themselves
