Plus the industry has done a shitty job of marketing over many years. In the fifties, racing was the #1 spectator sport in America. The fledgling television networks wanted to put it on weekly TV, but the dumbasses that controlled racing thought it would hurt on-track attendance. TV turned to football instead, and you know the rest.

Plus, being flamboyant is not a pre-requisite to being gay. And if you think gays suffered more as a people (not really true) than blacks, you're being a moron.
