I can think of 1 school that would 100% not trade their coach for Calipari and that's duke. Everyone else would strongly consider it or do it, including michigan state, NC, kansas, etc.

It's crazy how he can hand-pick any roster he wants, yet he still struggles to make it out of his own bracket. All that talent, and so few rings.

Recruiting is almost half the job in collegiate athletics today. Cal is the best one yet somehow you are viewing that as a negative

How many guys have gotten three programs to the final four?

The official record books indicate that he has only taken one program to the final four.

I guess 2nd place is cool nowadays. Do you brag about 21-0, cause y'all had a nice regular season?

You're god damn right we do!

he'll have a damn good chance next year. UK and Duke will be far and away the two best teams in the country.

He's only been at 1 program that has a realistic shot at winning a NC (A10 and CUSA teams don't win NCs in major sports).

Considering Memphis was in the championship, and seconds away from winning it, I'd say you are an idiot

Dean Smith had one NC in his first 30 seasons as a coach. I guess he was a shite coach as well.

Dean Smith underachieved just like Cal in the championship department when you think of all the talent that went through North Carolina.

The way the OP is making it seem it that there is only one truly successful NCAA basketball head coach and that is John Wooden who won 10 championships in 32 years.

Rupp won 4 in 42 years
Coach K 5 (edit) in 41 years
Bob Knight 3 in 42 years
Calhoun 3 in 40 years
Dean Smith 2 in 36 years
Roy Williams 2 in 28 years
Donovan 2 in 21 years

Of guys who have won multiple championships there are what? 3 head coaches total (including Wooden) who in their career averaged more than 1 championship every 10 seasons and you prob haven't even heard of the 2 others.

I think eventually he will stop the 1 and done strategy and attempt to develop a roster

Cal is arguably the 2nd best college coach in the last 30 years behind coach K. You could argue Izzo, Calhoun, and maybe Boeheim right around there. The fact that he only has 1 NC speaks way more to the terribly flawed--while granted, exciting--system to crown the CBB NC. Cal is one of the greatest coaches to ever don a college position. If you can't recognize that, that's on you, not Cal.

Took him 8 seasons to get to that point. It is sort of the point though, Cal built UMASS and Memphis in to winners. It wasn't like the Kentucky job where he could step in day one and be able to bring a class in that had John Wall, Boogie, and Bledsoe in it.

The best coach in the game, K, has fully embraced it like Cal has.

Ding ding ding...we have a winner. shite happens in a single elimination tournament. It's exciting for us but is a lousy way to crown a champ in basketball.
Memphis and UMass haven't won jack since he left.
